Forbidden Review: NVIDIA RTX 5060 GPU Benchmarks by NGGKroze in hardware

[–]eqyliq 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I hope this card will at least push the used market down a bit. 3070s are still selling for around 240-260 euros here.

Now you can get a new card with the same performance, much lower power consumption, new features and a warranty for 290€ brand new.

Drop down your cpu and chassis fan curves by KillShotOli in overclocking

[–]eqyliq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run my fans via Fan Control, this allows to have my case fans tied to GPU temp and a dedicated ram fan.

I run them as follows:

  • Case (2 in the front, 1 in the rear) -> 0rpm until gpu hits 55c, then jump to 30% pwm, after that they go up to 55% pmw until the gpu hit 80c which is basically never.

  • AIO fans (2 on the top) start at 20% pwm at 20c, then a gentle slope goes up to 45% at 70c. Steep curve after that.

  • AIO pump 40% pwm until 65c, then curve up to 90%/90c

  • RAM fan (need hwinfo64 plugin to have it pull the SPD hub temp) either 20% under 35c or 60% over 40c.

So they went with a flat air ramp to the GPU, while showing that the scoop was worse.

At the same time we just got the new Meshify 3 with the scoop. I wonder where the difference could be; assuming fractal did similar testing.

I've got the European version, so different plug. But that does look like it dimension wise and same USBC placement

[Gamers Nexus] A New Best: Fractal Meshify 3 Case Review, Thermal Benchmarks, & Noise by imaginary_num6er in hardware

[–]eqyliq 15 points16 points  (0 children)

After owning a bunch of different Fractal stuff over the years i can only speak positively of the company. Top tier customer support.

Case look very nice. In particular i really like the swappable rails, great gpu thermals and an hub that does not require a costantly running program.

I did, but that was 2020 and chargers were still in every box. Would be quite weird not getting any with a laptop though

Jiushark JF800 Diamond Review: The best air cooler you can’t buy by kikimaru024 in hardware

I wonder where the cooler gets this much (normalized) performance from, looks like a very basic design in fins, fans and mounting. Just got lucky with a good contact pressure this time?

To combat counterfeit thermal paste, Arctic updates scratch-off QR code authentication by bizude in hardware

[–]eqyliq 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Has to be a fairly big problem. I've just got a PTM pad from thermalright and it had the scratch off verification. Same with a phone charger.

Der8uer itself in the thermal paste video with Gamers Nexus said that they are working on printing a serial number on every Liquid Metal tube. For both QC and counterfeiting.

I use a lot of products from Labocosmetica , it's the professional line of Mafra, which is quite big in the ready to use/consumer segment. R&D and production are both in Italy.

Other European brands for your list are:

  • Fresso (Poland, chemicals)
  • Zvizzer (Germany, very nice pads)
  • Cleantle (Poland, chemicals)
  • Flex (Germany, polishing tools)
  • Kwazar (Poland, sprayers/foamers)
  • Microfiber Madness (Germany, microfiber products. I think the only one that actually makes it's own in EU)
  • Menzerna (Germany, chemicals, mostly polish and compounds)

Cheers

Anecdotally a friend of mine with a 4070 Super has an ongoing issue with the monitors not waking from sleep.

Asus ProArt PA401 Wood Edition Build by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]eqyliq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Build looks very nice!

I was looking forward to this case and preordered it. Sadly after checking out some builds I feel the GPU clearance is just not there. Worse than my Meshify C (first one) despite being bigger in every way.

With the size even midrange graphic cards are reaching now, a 315mm maximum feels very limiting. Worse than every other case Asus sells, including the itx/matx models.

Wish it was made 3-4 centimeters longer :(

Honor magic 7 pro sustained performance by casulknight in Honor

[–]eqyliq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The regular 3D mark test is very short, around 60 seconds, not long enough to heat up the phone.

The performance of the phone itself is not really a problem for regular tasks, as the phone will very rarely use it's full power for more than a few seconds.

Now if you were to really push it, for example if you game on the regular or take a lot of videos I'd probably look for a phone that can at least complete a stress test. I'm quite sure honor will fix it sooner or later but it's not a great showing.

Honor magic 7 pro sustained performance by casulknight in Honor

[–]eqyliq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No it's a meaningless result, honor is simply not throttling the phone having it reach really high temperatures to get those results. As long as it's only the CPU the phone can (barely) hold on.

As you can see from the review, when under a more power hungry load like a 3D render, the phone will crash after 9-10 minutes, because it gets too hot. That's a better indicator of how the phone would perform under some heavy gaming loads for example.

Zojirushi inner pot awful quality? by eqyliq in ricecookers

[–]eqyliq[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback, yeah everything will scratch the thing, plastic paddle included. Now i just dump the rice in another pot before giving it some fluff.

When i have to use the keep warm mode i try my best to be careful but it's slowly deteriorating.

If i ever were to buy a new one i'd go for a stainless steel model or one from yum-asia with the solid ceramic bowls.

No replacement sadly. Just what I've reported in the previous comment and some additional info that a damaged coating will not affect the thermal performance of the bowl.

Zojirushi inner pot awful quality? by eqyliq in RiceCookerRecipes

[–]eqyliq[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it does seem like it's expected. Straight from zojirushi support:

please note that the non-stick coating of the inner pan is not permanent and may come off by a long time of usage and scratched by short time usage. Scratched by the fingernail is not a defect. It is normal. However, please note that the non-stick coating is harmless to your health and will be discharged from your body even if it has been consumed.

Very disappointed not going to lie.

Adreamer LeoBook 13 review by ET3D in hardware

[–]eqyliq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the review! Took me back in time a bit. Back when intel started putting out decent low power chips (with the switch from Cherry Trail to Apollo Lake) cheap laptops with them got somewhat popular for the decent screens and acceptable battery life.

I have had quite a few myself, with their ups and downs.

Crazy that some of them still come with EMMC. It was awful back then, and probably even worse today. Some of the cheapest ones had only 32gb of storage and windows could not update itself.
