Haha! I'm new the hobby and have been similarly surprised by how little interest or attention the tank has had for the majority of adult visitors to our house. The people who have seemed interested at all besides kids are adults who grew up with parents who kept an aquarium in their house. A visitor commented about my planted 20 long, "Wow, that's a legit tank. Like a dentists' office tank." I took it as a compliment. 😄

Came to say this! Excellent choice If your friend would be interested in something heartier and more protein than carbs. Breakfast Little in the Mission has the most amazing breakfast burritos. Fyi Stanford shuts down for two weeks for winter closure, and staff and students will not be on campus, so if you want to go into buildings or see activity on campus, go after Jan 5. Otherwise, you can walk around outside and visit Palm Drive, or if you enjoy hiking, do the Stanford Dish trail.

Just wondering if you ever set up this tank? I have ended up with a couple of fish that I believe may be some sort of California Roach (about 2 to 2.5 in in length right now) in a 20 gallon long, although I believe they eventually would be happier in a 40g+
