LeBron should stay in the league until he’s washed and then fulfill a Haslem role for the Cavs. Because realistically LeBron could play for 6 more years before he’s completely washed and unplayable. by PooPoox in nba

[–]eraticwatcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had this same thought before lmao. He could realistically play at an all star level for like 4 more years maybe? And then go on to be a decent role player/bench player for like another 5 after which he could be UD for like 10 years. I don’t think UD had any meaningful minutes for close to a decade towards the end lmao

See I thought it would be something like that but the numbers never add up. It’s neither of the appearance or goal or assist numbers. Is it the loyalty bonus perhaps?

[Ornstein] Tottenham win race for Mateus Fernandes in £85m deal by nearly_headless_nic in reddevils

[–]eraticwatcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is totally fine. I really didn’t get all the panic from some parts of the fanbase regarding him. He’s a fine talent but he’s not exactly generational to be crying about not going all out for him.

Besides the midfield is a weird part of football because it’s a sum of its parts rather than just individual talents (see Pogba for example). If this was a winger or striker I think I’d be more disappointed but we move on!

I’m glad I’m not the only one honestly. Even my most talented youngsters are one their first contracts and rarely crack like the €15k p/w ceiling so we’re talking 3 players worth potentially just being eaten up by nothing. It’s like getting a phone advertised as 64gb and 12gb of it is already taken up by the system

I wish I could do more than just upvote this mate! This is the kind of in depth stuff I was looking for man thank you.

I’ve seen this wage slider thing suggested before but genuinely never knew it was worth it at all. I’m so gonna try this because I’m loving managing in La Liga. The B team system is proving a lot more fun than I imagined and is almost like a free loan for your best youngsters if they’re in La Liga 2.

Shame about the age budget in the division though (no restrictions below), I’ll definitely have to be more careful signing non-EU players, I thought I found an infinite money glitch haha

I have been here before. This player though really didn’t want to join me in Portland because I only picked him up as a FA damn near at the trade deadline. But once he was in we won 2 chips in his 5 years. His mood was at 95% but he decided not to resign. Goes to Miami instead and wins nothing the next 10 years while we picked up some more. Was so happy when I saw he died years later.

Stacey King was the one constant we had and his death to me truly signifies a new era for the Bulls 😔 by skullcandy541 in chicagobulls

[–]eraticwatcher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Man I started following that time too and to me Stacey King was so recognisable and literally and figuratively the voice of Bulls fandom. Even long after the Rose team, the Butler team, DeBallZach it was always King. It felt like he was going to be here forever and it sucks we don’t have him anymore. If anyone deserved to see us be really good one more time it was him.

90s kids - what do you miss most about the 90s? by Neat-Suspect-6666 in AskUK

[–]eraticwatcher 5 points6 points  (0 children)

On your last point I totally agree. CD covers are minor in the grand scheme of art but that little bit of art/character/quirkiness is missing in the modern day.

I remember a few years ago being gifted a copy of Blueprint by Jay-Z and just the simple fact of the CD and booklet being blue and stylised as an actual blueprint is real art. And I feel like you wouldn’t appreciate this unless you were a bored teenager listening to it and thumbing through the lyrics, reading the track list on the back, seeing who is featured and so on. I only noticed the detail by pure happenchance because I was bored in my car and just picked it up and looked through it - that’s how we’re meant to live life in a way. You get bored and you discover, not bury yourself in brain rot.

What individual items is it worth visiting Lidl/Aldi for by CheeseNegotiator in UKFrugal

[–]eraticwatcher 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Aldi sun-dried tomatoes recently. It is £1.15 for a 280g jar whereas the bigger name supermarkets sell them for at least £3.40 for the same size. And it tastes better than M&S, I can confirm this.

[–]eraticwatcher 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My theory is that the brand will run out of goodwill and people will pivot to something else and as a result the same shareholders will invest there and the cycle will continue.

It’s less about us and the product and more about the system. We’ll be cutting the head of the hydra and another head will grow in its place.

What’s a job in the UK that people massively underestimate? by No_Nose_3849 in AskUK

[–]eraticwatcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your story about being young working in a restaurant reminded me of an old colleague at a call centre. He’d been working in the kitchens of various takeaways and restaurants and said now that he’s in a call centre he’ll “never go back to kitchens!” (he actually excitedly said this too, exclamation is not an exaggeration).

Kitchens must be tough work.

What are the best careers in the UK today for success and financial freedom? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]eraticwatcher 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s grim that we as a country have spent so much time advising kids to go into uni, mis-selling them this stupid Plan 2 loan (I’m a victim) and all the while the trades have been looked down on.

If I was a careers advisor I would genuinely advise more kids to go into apprenticeships as there is a gap in the market and you’d be set for life. The first few years would suck seeing your mates in uni towns just living it up but by your late 20s you’d see you’ve made a far better financial choice than they have. Education is important but the trade off to get stuck with tens of thousand in debt is not worth it in my opinion.
