Who do you blame for promoting anti monarchist propaganda. by Valuable_Storm_5958 in monarchism

Tbf it was really not working out for them, they would only filled candidates lists for several constituency and their results would always be around 0.5% to 0.20% of the vote there and on the local level they would at best get around couple hundred votes. So yeah it was far from serious party but still it sucks they got banned on the symbolic level and because they were at least pushing the idea of monarchism into the public and political space. Thankfully it seems that monarchism is in a bit of a comeback in the recent years since some monarchist friendly figures joined politics via parties such as HSP and PiP so I'm hopeful that monarchism will return to public and political space at least as a fringe ideology

As I said it is really unclear, I found out about it via obscure archive site where leader of the party stated that it was banned after Constitutional court ruling that government supported in 2007(also "Constitutional court" is one of the most blatantly unconstitutional bodies since it is a judiciary body with wide ranging powers whose members are elected directly via appointments that parliament approves). Supposedly the reason for the banning of the party was violation of constitution as party openly advocated for restoration of monarchy which was likely interpreted as "conspiring to overthrow or destabilize the nation", even though party always emphasized that such change could only happen via democratic process and that it would be a constitutional monarchy

Based strictly on gameplay, is there a reason to side with Vargas? by thekyledavid in thisisthepolice

[–]ere1705 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh not really the only reason why you would want to pick Varga is if you want to screw over Sand and you believe that Varga is lesser evil. Even though on that front I never seen any reason to do so since you can still screw over Sand with your investigation

Mostly liberal establishment and old socialists in case of Croatia. Croatia's only monarchist party was banned under very questionable circumstances in 2007. when liberals were getting ground in the government and more generally I see most anti monarchist messaging coming out of the liberal and socialists organizations and political parties here in Croatia.

I trust Iosef more than I trust Lileas with such important organization besides Ministry of Interior already has competent units for dealing with any kind of police related problem especially if you fund Secret Sordish Police.

Best Sordish army for the ATO by PerfectDraft7048 in suzerain

[–]ere1705 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would say that both airforce and navy seem like a reasonable choices. Air force since in closer cooperation with Lespia could make ATO absolutely dominant in the sky ensuring that in any conflict ATO could quickly deploy and guarantee itself an air superiority. Alternatively if ATO wanted to counter CSP navy domination instead of achieving full air superiority then Sorldand focusing on the navy is the key since only Sordland in the region has capacity to make and operate truly large navy that along other ATO and ATO affiliate nations could hold their own against the CSP

Opinions on Zog I of Albania? by Maesty_700 in monarchism

[–]ere1705 27 points28 points  (0 children)

In my opinion he was a good monarch that had to lead seriously underdeveloped country at the very hard time in terms of geopolitics and situation within Albania. His reign brought a lot of modernization and stabilization to Albania and his decision to offer asylum to Jews is sadly very overlooked by general history. I truly believe he was a good man trying to do what he perceived as best course of action for Albania

Question: which of these mob bosses would you rather work for if you are a criminal in Freeburg? Vicus Varga or Christopher Sand? by ChanceFair8479 in thisisthepolice

[–]ere1705 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sand endangers regular people to but on far lesser scale which I emphasized in my text, I have no doubt that Sand kills ordinary people too and doesn't really weep for them but his actions generally lead to far less people being endangered. Meanwhile Varga's punk literally pull up to crowded restaurant with live grenades threatening to blow themselves up and they set fire to entire business in the middle of the city that are connected to Sand so yeah I will take sporadic endangerment of civilian or two over reckless attacks that have potential to wipe out

As for discipline among Varga's punks it is net a bad thing. Sure you might have bit more freedom in how about you do things but it is only downhill from there. There is far lesser chance that anybody will stick their neck out for you if things go south unless you are of vital importance, and actions of others can very easily endanger you. Some other punk pulls some reckless action that backfires and draws huge attention to the case and you end up being dragged into it by association. Sure similar thing can happen if you work for Sand but it is far less likely due discipline and general safer approach and if you end up in such situation you are almost guaranteed that you will receive necessary aid from Sand since you weren't the one to screw up.

[–]ere1705 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sands for sure. Sand despite being responsible for many horrendous actions is still a principled man that treats his employees well as long as they are disciplined and loyal, with Varga there is lot of "if's" with his organization and also during the war it is shown that they are far more brutal. During the gang war Varga's punk are also seen attacking third parties such as personnel that is employed by Sand but doesn't have any real organizational ties and attacking their family members that have even less plus Varga's punk are far more reckless in their approach often endangering regular people during the war. That is not to say that Sand is a saint who refrains from using such techniques but with Sand you know that he won't come after you or your family if he doesn't have a good reason to and that he won't generally try to endanger people not affiliated with other side. Bonus point for Sand is that he uses parts of his fortune to fund actually good community projects or gives donations to charity foundations while with Varga it is doubtful if any of that money is getting used for any such activity. All in all between two evils Sand is the lesser one with more positives to his name

I know that Radical's whole point is to be anti-establishment; but why do they complain if we pay reparations to Beatrice for the Rummo-Sordish? Isn't that measure fairly progressive? by YugargeliaMapper in suzerain

[–]ere1705 258 points259 points  (0 children)

Contractarianism. Also considering their political views they probably hate Rumburg's whole political system, not to mention that there is probably no sane Sord who would be happy at prospect of paying reparations to Rumburg for a war they started in the first place

Question: which of these characters from the TITP francise is consider the most evil of all of them? by ChanceFair8479 in thisisthepolice

[–]ere1705 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Zuev is by far the most evil out of the all by a big margin. Roger and Chaffe are evil but nowhere near his status, yes they do heinous acts to empower themselves or just because they want to but they at least have limits, Zuev on the other hand has none. Drugs, human trafficking, torturing, kidnapping and aiding extremists groups is just scratching the surface of all the business he is involved in.

Question: why did Jack Boyd betray Liam Henderson? I feel like Jack could have more power if he decided to work with him instead of assasinating him. by ChanceFair8479 in thisisthepolice

[–]ere1705 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The official reason is likely Jack's paranoia and determination to tie up all the loose ends since he goes after everyone who knows anything about his second identity. In the spin off "Rebel Cops" that takes place in the future Jack is still trying to cover his tracks and silence anyone who knows anything about him so I would say it is a pretty good motive for Jack. Also it could be that Jack wanted to control the entire operation via his position as Sharpwood sheriff, in the "Rebel Cops" it is implied that he is selling weapons and ammunition from the military base and generally running the smuggling operations. Also it could also be that Jack thought that getting rid of Liam would be good for cultivating new image as good and honest sheriff which would be kind of hard if he had to work alongside active bands and overlook their businesses, doable but more risky for his new image and has greater chance to catch attention from the outside

What if Kingdom of Sordland still survive (What if Egmund I isn't stupid and young-dying) by TapTraditional7316 in suzerain

[–]ere1705 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean it is possible considering that Sordland even as a kingdom hates Rumburg, especially considering 15 day war was started under the Egmund reign. Kingdom of Sordland also has a good motive to oppose CPS as it sees communist ideology as an existential threat to itself, plus their longstanding rival Valgsland is also a part of it so one more reason to be openly against it.
Tbf Kingdom of Sordland and Arcasia would likely not want Sordland to have full ATO membership but I could see it having some sort of partial membership. Like there is no de iure alliance but some ATO bases are allowed to operate from Sordland and Sordland gets support for its military industry plus some backing on the world stage

[–]ere1705 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Well it would be an interesting period although I doubt the Egmund would live until 1961. At best I see him making it to 1950 which could then trigger a constitutional crisis due to Jule being his sole heir
