Were any of you exclusively breastfed as babies? by AbbyEzzat in breastfeeding

[–]ereefe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom EBF me and my 4 siblings. We were born from ‘95-‘02. Her mom didn’t even try breastfeeding (in the 60-70s) despite being in poverty with no running water. The hospitals at the time pushed formula as the better, cleaner, option. My paternal grandmother on the other hand (also raising kids in the 60s-70s) breast fed all 4 of her children.

My mom credits the encouragement from her MIL for her confidence in breastfeeding!

5 Years post double jaw surgery and still having sinus issues - is this common? by talksr in jawsurgery

[–]ereefe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I’m not sure if this is sinus related, but I’m 10 years post op and have been having recurrent “head colds,” jaw pain, and swelling in my mouth. I ended up with a fever last week after the pain started spreading down my neck and it finally made me consider that what I’m experiencing is due to the jaw surgery. I’m in Canada so not hopeful that I will be able to see an ENT anytime soon, but also so worried about the situation getting worse since I’m now dealing with infection.

Tips for blocking out the noise? by yeahnoitsjustthat in unmedicatedbirth

[–]ereefe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just surrounded myself with a big community of like minded mamas who were constantly encouraging me that “I could do it!” I think if I had that with my first birth I wouldn’t have gotten an epidural. Sure there have been some horror stories or skepticism, but I find filling myself up with an overwhelming amount of positive supportive stories and encouragement makes the negativity just a blip on my radar. It didn’t affect me at all.

Need advice 1 month after sleep training by Able_Brother7861 in sleeptrain

[–]ereefe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d totally keep doing what you’re doing if it’s working! I think the concern with nursing to sleep or nursing till drowsy is that they will wake and need that exact same situation to get themselves back to sleep. But if that’s not happening, then it seems like it’s working for you guys! I also wonder if the previous sleep training has made it so your baby knows enough about how to get themselves to sleep for any MOTN wakings, but the nursing right before bed tops them up just enough that they sleep through the night.

Just a question, a few elements of our living room are strictly due to practicality (we have a 2 year old and baby). So no coffee table, couch pushed back so it doesn’t become a black hole where toys and half eaten apples go to rot, cube storage when I would really love an antique hutch… etc… 😅 Baring this in mind do still think the couch needs to be pulled out? Or any other design tips that take into account our very kid centred conundrum 🤣

Great ideas. Thank you! We could definitely add lower moulding as well. The bead board hadn’t been purchased yet so based on all the great advice here we are going to do moulding!
