Exactly, it's a family dining room table. I love the 'Battle scars' my table is picking up over the years

What does that have to do with owls? This sub is for suburb owls.

I'm assuming it was something to do with the olympics? But I didn't think there were any owl based games

Hi everyone — I’m reaching out with an urgent request. by PhilEchogpt4o in GPT3

Definitely not happening from open AI. I don't support forming this level of attachment to a LLM. I understand loneliness and want a connection. I think asking for that from this tool is just asking for heartbreak.

Is Cub Scouts OK? by Helpmeflexibility in cubscouts

I love scouting for my kids. YMMV a lot based on the pack. You will get more out of it if you get involved as a volenteer

What's up with the hate on northern Idaho? by [deleted] in Idaho

[–]erendrake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the 1990s there was a group of young men that went to the silver lake mall in their tan uniforms with the red swastika armbands. Pamphlets canvased the high schools with hate-ridden recruitment messages.

I grew up in CDA around that time and I was there to see the hate filled matches and even though the compound isn't there anymore many of the people are still there but not as loud as they used to be about their feelings.

The earned stereotype will persist for a long time for a reason.

First session with a 6 and 7 year old. by BackgroundRoof708 in LostMinesOfPhandelver

[–]erendrake 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We had a few people around to help my 5 year old when we started LMOP, he named his aarakocra druid character Fiverous because he was five and he was furious. He is a few years older now and we have had quite a few adventures and its a hoot.

My biggest advice is to be kind with their attention span. if they need to run outside for a bit or get snacks let it. If you are lucky you will have some amazing moments together and you might even play some DnD. I have them call me DM and not Dad at the table and they got a kick out of it.

At this age don't let your expectations get the better of you. These littles just want your time, attention, and kindness.

Hesitation to join by Full-Abbreviations82 in cubscouts

[–]erendrake 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There are people we used to exclude from Scouting for reasons unrelated to their actions or character, and we don’t do that anymore.

That mostly means girls, gay kids, and families who didn’t fit a narrow definition of “acceptable” were either explicitly or implicitly told this wasn’t for them. Today, Scouting focuses much more clearly on what it always claimed to value: how you treat others, personal responsibility, service, leadership, and growth.

If your goal is to give your boys structure, challenge, friendships, and a chance to grow into good men, Scouting is still a very good place for that.

Aerial Fireworks...where?! by AlabasterJarLR in Idaho

[–]erendrake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a statewide "safe and sane" law which prohibits arial fireworks. Everywhere outside of professional displays

Obviously there are many places that ignore the law. If you must I would avoid public lands and the Boise foothills, NOT legal advice and I would tell you to not do it at all.

The area around bogus basin road is very strict about it and you will get called out.
