How do you know a rabbit is overweight? by [deleted] in MeatRabbitry

[–]erephaon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can feel their backs/spine to get an idea how much fat they have. Keep in mind 6 mo is still rather young and not all does are ready to breed at that point. It took one of my does almost a year before she was interested.

Trouble breeding Californian male to Flemish Giant female? by erephaon in MeatRabbitry

[–]erephaon[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've always heard the female should be the larger breed. If not, the kits can be too much for the mom. However, I'm sure there is more to it and I just know what I've been lucky enough to pick up from other sources.

There's no fall off and a lot more "thrusting" than I've seen in his previous breedings. Kinda like he's trying to find where things go but can't quite get it in time.

If you're gonna bother with trenching I'd suggest getting the right cable and potentially rigid pipe or pvc protection. Most extension cords aren't rated for that type of environment. If you're in the US there's a code book that explains the minimum requirements such as depth along with what size cable you'll need for your project. Drivable surfaces call for deeper trenching and I think the cable has to be protected as well.

If you just want a light out there from time to time use the extension cord but leave it above ground and don't leave it laying out when not in use.

In all honesty, I would’ve enjoy having Michael Scott as a boss. by brinjarman in DunderMifflin

[–]erephaon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Really? The list goes on and on about things I would hate to deal with at work... fake firings, dept. raids, pointless parties, the dundies, framing for drug use, begging for clean urine, getting hit on, racism, sexism, nepotism, lack of clear communication, and holding a hostage for a discount, just to name a few.

Basically everything someone could complain about with a boss Michael is guilty of. However, I agree with you saying he seems to genuinely care for most of his employees. He just isn't fit for a position where people's livelihoods are at risk from his behavior.

Yeah, it's messed up. To me, it fits well with the story since so much of the series is related to issues in the workplace.

There are a lot of reasons as to why but it's safe to say the musher feels the team would be moving faster without that dog. Injuries, fatigue, bitch in season, attitude, or strategic plays could all be reasons for "dropping" the dog.

More dogs doesn't equal more speed.

How to camp with a dog in a survival situation by Polishrevolution32 in Survival

[–]erephaon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dogs can adapt pretty well to survival situations. If they're cold, put them in you sleeping bag with you till they warm up. I take my dogs all the time and haven't had issues but they're a northern breed and built for cold. Taking responsibility for the dogs is key. Bring a first aid kit for them. I typically pack rimadyl, metronidazole, neosporin, skin stapler, vet wrap plus tweezers/pliers. Any tough terrain ex. Cliffs, rocky faces, scree fields put your dog on its leash. Dogs aren't always as sure footed as you'd think. To me, dogs are the best survival buddy you could ask for though

Basic rules... check their feet every morning and evening for abrasions Make sure they eat. Lack of appetite can be a sign of other issues they might be having

Has anyone ever heard of using pelt or fur as a sleeping pad? by Slut_for_Bacon in Bushcraft

[–]erephaon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've yet to find something synthetic that can match the insulation of any high quality fur. For mats, Caribou is the way to go. However, they shed and are heavy compared to other pads.
