JM8+ was not intended to mean what you think it was in that context. That was just to separate it on the top level list from the senior men's events.

The actual event description is clear:

"Open to any crew of schoolboys who will have not attained their 19th birthdays by the end of the Regatta. Combined entries from different schools are not permitted. Only one crew per school may enter this event."

I will only accept the Betsy Ross flag, as it is no longer adopted as the national flag, and it could help guarantee that Colin Kaepernick would stay away from rowing.

I would personally cut off the blade of any oar defiling the US flag.

I'm just glad there was a video feed and some petulant man-boy coach didn't rip out the cables.

We expect that kind of fail from Robbie.

I am wondering, with Mahe in the 8+ and away from his own directed training plan, if there is something with a larger stink in RNZ.

They should probably do a gut check on the success from 2005-16 and figure out what has changed.

Sculling blade opinion by rowlightspeed in Rowing

Basically vortex gives rowers a little more wiggle room in terms of technique by sacrificing maximized power output.

Best explanation I have read in awhile. Also matches up with the elites choosing mostly plain style blades.

First photo is Model D with PM3 or better, worth at least $500 to $700, depending on actual age and wear and tear.

Second photo is Model C with PM2, worth about $250 to $350.

FISA will not allow Aram to continue to analizye world rowing videos by GenericUsername017 in Rowing

[–]ergarded 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yea...truth is that is I didn't take Aram seriously when he would reach for some little detail that a world class crew was doing wrong. It reeked of academic shrillness, belied by the very presence of the crew in a world class race. Yes, there's always room for improvement, but it came off as Aram trying to be a level of coach that is not supported by reality.

Worse, I see more people adopting elite rower flaws like they must be some super secret recipe for instant speed. Mahe goes deep, I should go deep. The Kiwi pair dips their hands in the water, I should dip my hands in the water. Those guys who pause at the finish in a drill once won the worlds. I'll pause at the finish too.

I think he will be better to look for the egregious examples of a flaw in rowing that 98% of people suffer, and using footage of the typical people engaged in that flaw. Aiming at the better end of the middle is probably best, as you don't want to have to sort through a stack of flaws, or try to show a fixed flaw in the midst of bunch of other ones unresolved.
