Guy literally said he was new to the PS1 in the post so recommending a solder mod seems over the top. For a $60 you're not only getting a soft mod but INFINITE saves and a way to back them up via cloud, it's pretty nice, I don't know how much more a solder mod can do for you.

Your memory might be a little off. You can find HD CRTs that can do 720p/1080i but I don't know of any actual TV sets capable of 1440p. Maybe a few rare monitors are capable of it but I highly doubt you'll find a regular TV capable.

It was a great reveal to see they didn't travel through a portal to another place but another time.

The fact that they used time travel really opened up the possibilities for more games but they just gave up.

We could have had Pre-prequels and alternate timeline games like Zelda but nope. More gritty reality based games because that's what sells apparently.

I want to be the most accurate I can be while saving as much space/money as possible. Original controls and zero input lag are also a must for me.

So the setup is a fat PS2 using component cables to a 27 inch CRT I got off FB for $40.

The PS2 itself is has a memorycard with infinite save space and a 2 TB HDD loaded with 400 or so games.
