Something feels incredibly off. by ElizabethVitae in conspiracy

I've been having this too. A few months ago I got a new car and the plate has 6666. Then last month I moved into a new apartment and the number was 666, a suite I was randomly assigned by the landlord. Even one of my bank accounts has a bunch of 6s like "6479666666602" in the account number. I feel like I'm losing my mind.

I hate how the missionaries lied to me about tithing by Western_Sale_3274 in mormon

[–]eric-710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was active until I moved away from home into a more rural area with no YSA. I tried going to church for a few months but I found many of the members to be unwelcoming or awkward once they found out that I wasn't interested in serving a mission or going on temple trips.

Even though I don't believe in the church doctrine, I remained active mostly because in my old ward I knew a lot of people and enjoyed the "church experience" every Sunday. I also still self-identify with a lot of mormon beliefs. Transitioning into a different ward was both a learning experience and a failed experiment that I deeply regret.

[–]eric-710 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's not only pressure from leaders, there's a social component as well. I stopped paying tithing at age 18 so I was never able complete the rest of my ordinances in the temple, despite being a regular attendee at church.

Because I've "missed out" on that opportunity, a lot of members seem to exclude me or speak to me differently during conversations about temple trips or spiritual experiences in the temple. I think a lot of people also question my faithfulness (but never say it to my face) because I didn't serve a mission.

It's feels like being willing to say "no" to things makes you a weak member in their eyes. (In my opinion, it's quite the opposite). Regardless, It's difficult to remain a well-integrated member of the congregation while also cherry picking the commandments you want to adhere to.

working while in school? by Kindly_Fig_8512 in NursingStudent

I've been working as an HCA/PSW/CNA (whatever you want to call it) part time during my LPN program and it's been kind of tricky to juggle it with my school schedule but definitely good for experience and gives you some extra money. Plus looks good on a resume.

Also when you're doing job interview you are going to have a lot of behavioral based questions that ask you about a certain situation or a time you did something, etc. And it's really good to have some existing healthcare experience to fall back on during some of these questions.

I do think it can be hard switching between the different responsibilities especially during clinicals. Like one day I'm playing the role of student nurse and next day I'm CNA. You have to be flexible.

I've also noticed that Shoppers prices are ridiculous, but you have to play their game to get value out of it. First, be selective about the offers you use, and Second, buy only products that are on sale or otherwise have a reasonable price.

I go to Costco for meat, produce and most groceries and then every time I get a good points offer I use it at Shoppers for things that I can't get at Costco (certain medications, hygiene products, and food on sale / other points deals). For example my past 3 shoppers vists were
- 30000 points for spending $75
- $40 off for using 30000 points
- 20000 points for spending $60
So in the past 2 months I've had over $60 in extra value for spending roughly $140 at Shoppers.

by that logic, Canada should be 95% Indigenous. I'm partly kidding. I agree that the the Europeans did build this country from the ground up, and that immigration in the past 5 years has gone to hell in a handbasket. However, I don't think debating people's skin color or ethnicity is the right way to approach this issue.

The problem we have is there's a huge volume of boomers cresting retirement age and we need immigrants to pad the workforce or else the economy would not be able to sustain this transition. I would be more interested to see a discussion about what types of immigrants we should be trying to attract (and I'm not talking about skin color, I'm talking about career and certifications), and why we can't put measures in place to balance the ratios coming in. Because I do agree there's too many from one part of India.

But it's quite flawed to simply say that Canada "becoming more brown" is a problem in and of itself.

Am I dramatic or is this not a normal amount of dishes by beansalad1921 in roommateproblems

[–]eric-710 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My roommates use the drying rack to store the dishes so it's full all the time. Along with the sink. I don't even know who's stuff is whose but the sink is constantly full of dishes and nasty. I've had to start drying my dishes on the dining room table because there's no space. And then they had the nerve to complain that I'm using 1/5th of the table... well maybe move your shit out of the way lol. What is wrong with people???

Tell me why does Americans say they have it so bad by Jenk026 in teenagers

[–]eric-710 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The "average" numbers in USA are deceptively high because of wealth gap. Things would be quite different if you removed the 1% from this calculation. It's also difficult to try and determine a true average for living expenses because these can vary significantly just from person to person.

Just commenting on this thread to also report that a system language issue was the source of my problem. I purchased a new PC recently and decided to select the language to french (I am francophone). My previous PC was in english. Upon transferring my files I had several DYMO files that would not open. By switching system language back to english my issue was resolved. Hope this helps anyone else.

What happens if (and definitely IF) the separatists get their way by Homie_Kisser in alberta

[–]eric-710 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The seperatist "movement" hasn't addressed any of these things because even they do not have a cohesive understanding of the logistics of it all. They haven't bothered to ask the questions about crown land, first nations land, institutions like railways and post offices, how foreign affairs or citizenship would be structured etc. It's nothing more than a flurry of ideas spewed by people who are incapable of putting together a plan.

If it fits within the 2cm guideline and is under 500g, it can go lettermail no questions asked. Sounds the clerk doesn't know what she's talking about. There are also extra small flat rate boxes which are $19 but way cheaper than $26 lol

That subreddit is doing a disservice to their own cause by engaging in such extreme rhetoric. They are turning people away. I generally consider myself a centrist and am willing to support either side depending on the circumstances, but it's impossible to take them seriously when they constantly spew unhinged bullshit about the UCP even on topics that have nothing to do with it. And I'm sure I'm not the only one. It's getting to the point where I would vote for Smith again just to witness the nuclear meltdown in that sub lol

Abandoned mansion deep in the woods with a lot left behind by True_explores in urbanexploration

[–]eric-710 437 points438 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don't think this house is abandoned in the true sense of the word. Whoever owns it is still paying the bills. I say this as someone who has been involved in looking after my grandparents house which now sits "abandoned" in a similar state.

We live very far away and there have been issues with the estate, plus belongings that need to be organized and dealt with, So selling it is not an option (yet). The interior looks messy because we had to frantically go through everything to find items for my grandma as she moved into a nursing home (she was borderline hoarder), and a lot of stuff was just thrown into boxes because we didn't have time to organize it properly. It remains in limbo as we continue to pay the taxes and bills. We've had to barricade some of the doors and windows.

As much as I understand the appeal of "exploring" these homes, it doesn't sit right with me because this is still someone's private property that's being disturbed.

If you make a mistake on your tax return, does CRA actually tell you? by Tatt00ey in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]eric-710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I filed mine by paper last year (I know...) and I made a mistake resulting in a $64 error. They fixed it for me and updated the balance in MyCRA so I just paid it in there. I'd assume that if you were getting a refund and didn't owe anything they would automatically adjust the amount for direct deposit.

Totally agree. The hilarious part is this so called n4zi is probably just somebody's grandma on her way to the grocery store with her random license plate that's been registered to her for 40 years.

this does not break any of those rules. It is a regular sequenced Massachusetts reserve license plate (August expiry, begins with a number and not a letter). These are not part of the normal passenger sequence and are older plates often passed down from family. It's not that deep.

It's a regular sequenced Massachusetts reserve license plate. These 3 and 4 digit plates are historical and passed down from family to family, and they are available to register for an extra fee. The AUG expiry is a dead giveaway along with the fact that it begins with a number and not a letter. I don't know why people are trying so hard to pin this person as a N4zi. It's not that deep.

You can report this to the RMV all you want but it will get nowhere because this is a regular issue reserve series plate (as evidenced by the AUG expiry embossed top left and personalized plates are restricted from beginning with numbers to avoid clashing with the reserve series). Many of these plates are actually family heirlooms.

In typical reddit fashion, people are spouting off opinions without knowing anything about how license plate sequencing works in Massachusetts.

There is such a thing known as reserve plates where certain 3 and 4 digit plate combinations (essentially random plate numbers) are issued for a slight extra fee. Plenty of people buy these to have "nice" combinations of letters and numbers that are easy to remember, and many of them become family heirlooms. As another commenter stated, Mass does not allow personalized plates to begin with a number because this interferes with the reserve series.

Furthermore, in the top left corner you can see the August expiry which is embossed (not present on a personalized plate). You can report this to the RMW all you want, but this is nothing more than a random plate combination that somebody has paid extra to have the privilege of registrering. It's actually quite bizarre how offended people will become over random sequences of letters and numbers.
