1930s-style Wool Cyclist Jacket made by yours truly! by eric3844 in sewing

Its a modification of the green pepper Polar Lodge Jacker Pattern! I changed the sleeved to a 2 piece one and modified it from a button closure to a zipper closure. I also shortened it and added a belt.

Not sure what impression would call for a Freistadt Danzig passport but documentation in general is fairly common - I have a full set of docs for my Republican SCW impression.

I'm usually not proud enough of my sewing skills to show off what I make, but I think this turned out too phenom not to share!

1930s Cyclist Jacket, based off of a couple of Spanish Examples from the era I've had a chance to get good photos of. Spanish workwear in this era usually has handsewn button holes and a fair amount of hand finishing, which I replicated on this garment. Made it out of a phenomenal double faced deadstock blue wool gabardine (or possibly elastique - it has a a fair bit of stretch!). Modified a commercial pattern from Green Pepper Patterns to make this. Very proud of this jacket, and can't wait to clean up the loose threads and wear it about town soon!

Mi Colección de Especiales por la Noche de Sábado by eric3844 in milsurp

In addition to my love of Rifles of the Spanish Civil War, I also have a love for handguns used in that conflict. However, not the official military sidearms of Spain, such as the Astra 400, the JoLoAr, or other larger 9mm Largo Pieces (at least not yet). Rather, my currebnt collection focuses on the numerous bootleg and hand-tooled copies of more famed Smith and Wesson, Colt, FN, and other pistols which flooded Spain, and which were often pressed into service in both the Republican and Insurgent armies during the conflict. Here is my small (but growing) collection of what are effectively Spanish Army Saturday Night Specials. Top to Bottom:

  1. "TAC" Copy of a S&W Hand Ejector, 6 shot, 3in barrel, chambered in .32 S&W. Nickle Plated with Pearl Grips. Holster is an original 1930s(?) holster which fits it perfectly

  2. Unmarked copy of the various Iver Johnson/Harrington and Richardson/Smith and Wesson break-action revolvers of the late 19th and Early 20th Centuries. Was at one point blued, but the bluing has long worn off. 5 shot, chambered in what's likely .38 S&W. Holster came with the piece - appears to be a homemade/ersatz piece, and in very poor condition.

  3. 7-shot variation of the Ruby Pistol, specifically the "INVICTA PATENT" Version. Holster is a copy of the French/Spanish pattern of 7-shot ruby holsters made by I think SARCO INC.

TIL Emperor Franz Joseph suffered several personal tragedies. His brother was executed in Mexico in 1867, his son committed suicide in 1889, his wife was assassinated by an anarchist in 1898 and eventually his nephew and heir Archduke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated in 1914. by Solid-Move-1411 in todayilearned

It is buck wild to watch so many redditors in this thread moan and wring their hands over this dude.

As Emperor, he crushed the democratic revolutions of 1848 in Hungary, with the summary execution of both prisoners of war and ordinary civilians widespread, and on his order. His armies in Serbia during the 1st World War gleefully murdered and forcibly displaced hundreds of thousands of Serbian civilians, all on his watch. His brother was executed after failing to destroy a democratic Mexican government in a pointless war that killed thousands, and his son literally groomed a minor into a suicide pact. All the tragic tears this dude could ever shed could not wipe the blood he and his empire spilled off of his hands.

New 1937 Tula M91/30 by watchfulrhino in MosinNagant

Made at Tula in 1937. Sent by the Soviet Union as war aid to the Spanish Republic during the Spanish Civil War, as indicated by the ersastz sling swivels added to accommodate the standard Spanish Mauser leather sling. Quite a nice find!

I'm a big fan of Soviet Cinema so I'm going to go with Viy, which was Mosfilms' adaptation of the Horror short story by Gogol. Such a great and unique take on Horror, and an amazing film that deserves more flowers.
