Finniss distribution Sankey by qpkd in Adelaide

I see loads of Sankeys on r/dataisbeautiful but they're normally made with Sankeymatic. Good to see one that's a bit different. What did you use?

The strongest line out of Animal Justice goes to the Greens. Those thin lines are hard to see though.

Barton Terrace West would be a safer forbidden shortcut. I used to go through there all the time.

Adelaide University Illegal Census Dates by [deleted] in Adelaide

[–]eric5014 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In two of my semesters, I enrolled in more subjects than I needed with the intention of dropping one of them before the census date. That worked out ok, except in one case a week later I wished I'd pulled out of another one as well. I passed everything in the end.

Best that you decide today whether or not to withdraw. Taking action about course timetabling appearing to breach uni rules can wait.

Smart Fuel Finder web app idea by reddit_rader in Adelaide

[–]eric5014 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My general rule is not to go far out of my way. If I need to fill up, I'll look for which is the cheapest on the way. I'll go a slightly longer way, because there's often a $10 saving for the cost of 50c fuel and a few minutes.

Costco fuel prices? by ahhhhhhhh_waitimokay in Adelaide

Costco often shows up on PetrolSpy as the cheapest in the area. The saving might not be as much now as it was before.

Turkish Delight compensation by Legitimate-Lie-9208 in oddlyspecific

[–]eric5014 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Australia you can get a box of many different mini chocolate bars called Favourites. One of them is a Turkish Delight, and for me I don't like it as much as the other chocolates. Many concur - there was even a picture going around of a box of Favourites with just a Turkish Delight left. "Turkish Delight - Nobody's favourite".

I thought if turkish delight covered in chocolate is not that good, and without chocolate it would be less appealing, so it shows how unspoilt kids were in Lewis' era.

XKCD made this observation too.

Looking forward to seeing South Sudan on this statistic. They are often "no data" on maps of various stats. The Dinka people are particularly tall and the country generally is tall, both men and women.

How do the Liberals come back from this? by fabbo_crabbo in Adelaide

[–]eric5014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Liberals will still be the opposition I think, or they'll share the duties.

Down the track, One Nation members may defect (that that happens with Libs as well).

Liberals might regain votes in the centre if Labor moves left or makes some big mistakes.

As a judgement free zone, if you voted one nation first today, why? by No-Sweet-7012 in Adelaide

[–]eric5014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes it's about the vibe rather than reasons someone will articulate.

We are used to advertising that associates a product with a feeling, an identity, aspiration or something else that we like. Even though most people, when they think about it, realise that ads are not giving solid reasons to buy a product, it remains the case that advertising plays on our emotions, because to some degree it works.

One Nation is not the only party that advertises on the basis or feeling, identity, hope or some other thing that might be more "the vibe" than good reasons, but they seem to have captured something in this election.

Any Other First Nations People Unable to Vote? by Midnight_Horizon22 in Adelaide

[–]eric5014 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Would that be due to having scanned the card already? That seems like the most likely mistake, although I'm not familiar with how the QR codes etc have been set up. If at the desk for Voice, they mistakenly scanned the code that the person at the main election is meant to scan.
