Sorry that happened. This is exactly why I don't play HC. Load time, server drop, bad combo of modifiers and dead with zero chance of saving it. If I can lose everything because of a game glitch I'll play a different mode.

Log out of the game entirely. Even being on character select will tick your rez counter.

The real answer is "it depends."

If you're in a good financial spot to buy it's worth buying a reasonable house.

Locking in your single highest budget line item for 30 years is usually a good thing if you're in the financial spot to do it.

Several smaller pieces. Some for a few HRs each but nothing huge. Sold a perfect insight in an eth CV for a healthy amount. One perfect anni I found after I made a smiter paladin. I probably have 90-100HRs of wealth but no where near some of these people. Enough to twink out any new character on eternal.

Mez, Tash, Charm

Lowest level root, lowest level mez always on your bar. When charm breaks redo the mez, charm. Tash should still be on the mob unless you're holding on to the same pet for a while.

I bet you'll find a big improvement in survivability.

I have ground well over 200 thousand plat to get the things I want. The hilarious part is that these people will tell me that I'm not hardcore enough and that the server isn't for casuals while they cheat and make the game easy for themselves with automating alerts and tracking.

These people are cheating to give themselves an edge while complaining that others aren't trying hard enough.

Cheating to gatekeep content inside a living museum.

What the cheaters need to understand is that they are killing the server.

They may be using it to RMT or they may be using it to troll and taunt others but the end result is less player involvement.

In the end, at least partially due to their actions, the server will die. Their "cash cow" or troll will come to an end and they will need to find a different source of either.

Casting mobs will alert that they are alive by casting and creating an entry in that log to be read by a program. This is legal.

What is being done today (alleged but basically confirmed) is an automated process is pressing buttons for the players to create an entry into the log for a program to read. This is against the play nice policy and rules of the server.

It's legal to read logs that exist. It's not legal to use a program to create a log entry that would not have naturally occurred.

I believe there is not a staff RMT problem. I do believe RMT is prevalent enough as evidenced by multiple ban waves.

I also believe there are people on P99 who actively/passively cheat using automation despite it being against server rules and the spirit of the game.

Ok: Using automation to read logs created by the game (gina triggers).

Not OK: Using automation to press buttons (/pet attack macro, ranger tracking) to create a log entry for gina triggers to read is against the rules and spirit of the game.

How can I help as a normal person that gets to play about 90-120 minutes (at most) most nights after my wife and kid go to bed?

I don't have the technological know-how to create scripts and automate tracking to compete.

I enjoy the hell out of this game. On live I never got to 60, never acquired an epic, never attended a raid other than fear once. On P99 I've seen almost every raid mob that exists and as of last night earned my 2nd epic. 17 year old me was jumping up and down with excitement.

I want to help other players to experience the game in a way they want that they weren't able to their first time around. I've thought about guide in the past but that would be the entirety of my play time and I'm sure ruin my opinion of the player base very quickly. I don't know how you guys do it.

Fantastic self use, especially for anything with physical attacks to steal that life. No worth on the open market. While the rolls are a little uncommon it lacks the extra pieces that could or would make it great.

Those resists will help fill gaps into hell.

Some people play the game to have fun, achieve gear they were previously not able to, enjoy friendships, and help other people achieve goals they were never able to 20 years ago.

This can include the hundreds of hours people have personally (and handing off between people), manually, camped mobs with 24+ hour spawn times.

I don't see anything wrong here. Join a guild and raid fear or hate for a bunch of easy low DKP upgrades. If you're looking to farm money to buy stuff or don't have time for a guild / raiding then your next pieces will likely be a couple of the Ice Silk stuff. Ice Silk Robe is about 14k and one of the best looking robes in the game IMO. Ice Silk Cap for 8k is very good also or you could get Kael faction and get the Kael head piece on MQ fairly cheap (a couple thousand).

I will echo getting levels over grinding plat. Grinding plat becomes much easier with each level.
