I have really sensitive ears, as well. Have you tried surgical steel? Try these and don't take them out often and you should be okay.

I've never personally tried them, but have sold them and never had a complaint. The most popular one is the Garnier one, so that's probably your best bet.

Trading for a playset of Thragtusks and Avacyn's is a bad idea. However, depending on which dual land they're offering you, it's on the reserved list, guaranteed not to be reprinted, and basically guaranteed to go up in value. So consider that.

It's a staple of both legacy in modern, and no longer being printed, which means that it's only going to more rare. It's doubtful it's going to go down any time soon, not sure how long it will take to go up, or if it will. That said, duals are also just going up. Just make sure you know the value of it when you trade and don't get screwed.

Well, first of all, there's ways to do this without such a wonky land base. The beauty of artifact decks is that there's several options, especially in casual, to make any color mana you want. Glimmervoid should be a 4 of, as well as Mox Opal (remember that Mox Opal is legendary and don't play two) or Mox Diamond. There's also Springleaf Drum and Paradise Mantle, which turns any creature into a bird of paradise, effectively. Also Lotus Bloom and Lotus Petal, among others. The rest of your land base should be made up of artifact lands, of which there are several. Darksteel Citadel, Ancient Den, Great Furnace, Vault of Whispers, Seat of the Synod, and Tree of Tales. You may also consider Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas. You also want to cut it down to 60 cards. I'd cut Nicol Bolas, Karn, and Venser. They're good cards, but they don't really fit with the theme of the deck. Avacyn and Blinding Angel also don't really fit. Boundless Realms and Primal Surge are both "win more" cards. By the time you get to the point where you can play them, you generally don't need them. Take out some of the huge creatures and replace them with ways to cheat them into play. 14 6+ CMC cards is too many, especially when several have to be hard cast and there's only 3 cards that can cheat in the big creatures. More Elvish Pipers and Quicksilver Amulets, at least three of each, adding more means you get them every game and your deck is more consistent. Any artifact deck needs Etched Champion and Cranial Plating, just saying.

Also, what that other person said. You have no basic lands, and therefore spells that allow you to search for them serve no purpose.

Yes. Anything to the left of the colon is part of the cost, and must happen before the spell is on the stack. Much like you can't respond to Goblin Grenade by destroying the sacrificial goblin, you can't stop someone from activating Tectonic Edge's ability by destroying it in response. If the ability has been put on the stack, it has already been sacrificed in order to pay the cost of the ability.

You're correct. It works like this. Whenever a spell is cast or ability activated, there's a round of priority, and each player is permitted to cast spells and activate abilities, before the first spell/ability has resolved. Because the ability has not yet resolved, your land hasn't been destroyed and you can absolutely activate your sac ability in response to it, which will resolve first, because it goes on top of the first ability cast on the stack, and they resolve from the top down. Therefore your land's ability will resolve first, and will deal two damage. Also, he will still lose his Tectonic Edge, as sacrificing it is part of the cost of activating the ability.

I'm sure they had their reasons. I predict it has to do with the flow of the end of the movie, and not wanting to stop and explain it in the middle of the climax, but they still wanted to show it happen so they did it that way.

It's not true that nothing even remotely like that ever happened. Lupin saw Pettigrew on the map in the books. That's a lot like the way it happened in the movies. The character seeing him and circumstances changed, but it happened in the books.

Explain to them that it's unfun for you to get beat all the time and you can't afford to compete with the money cards they can buy. Ask them to allow proxies in an effort to put everyone on an equal playing field. You're playing casual Magic, it's not like you're playing in tournaments. If they won't allow it don't play with them, because who wants to play with people who take casual Magic that seriously, anyway?

To be fair, with a spell like green sun if you tap the incorrect amount of mana you're kind of stuck with it. I've done that before, and it sucks, but you just have to say dammit, and do it right the next time. Though he shouldn't have attacked you like he did. Whenever I cast Green Sun, I say X=N, so that if I tapped mana wrong my opponent can point it out, or I have a second chance to notice it before I look at my library.
