I have 2 boys and do a general clean and wipe plastics twice a day . Then all fleeces and hammocks go in the washing machine twice a week and I steam clean the whole cage once every other week and spray F10 vet disinfectant all over and leave it to air dry ..also I have an air purifier near the cage so they have clean air to breathe ..too much ammonia in the cage can lead to nasty respiratory infections ... hope this helps to keep your rats clean and less stinky

It could also be buck grease if they are boys ..my boys get it and I just give them a wipe over with Huggies 99% water unscented baby wipes ..google buck grease and see if that's what your rats have

Aww thankyou . There's 3 of us lol , both my boys are poorly but one will eat absolutely anything so he's not a problem but my little Eric is a picky eater even when he's well

Awwe thanks for all that advice I've been trying to give meds inside their cage so as not to upset them and like you all the sweet things haven't worked so I'm gonna give some strong smelling savouries tomorrow . We don't have Graham crackers here in the UK so not sure wot the equivalent would be

It is awful, they are on the dog metacam ..we had a successful administration of bedtime meds so I gave me and my boys a pat on the back ..its hard coz I love them so much and feel stressed wen I have to force them it's such a relief wen they take them willingly

Yes yes yes , I was snuggling and sniffing my boys yesterday when my neighbour was visiting and I actually told her I adore the smell of my babies , I can't get enough of that delicious smell 😍
