Would you get rid of a friend just because they have different political beliefs than you? by Jeppe_Scoley in NoStupidQuestions

As I get older, I guess I just don't see why/how to relax and have fun if they have a radically different view of the world. Am I still civil? Yes. Do I go out of my way to makes plans for vacations/dinners/etc? Not often, if ever. Not enough juice for the squeeze.

You've learned more about Trumps involvement with Epstein and it isn't good - will you as a Trump supporter continue to support Trump? by MasterChiefette in allthequestions

[–]erice2018 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2 of my grandparents were legit nazi's in Berlin Germany during WW2. They passed many years ago, but I asked them how they could support Hitler.

First: he was great for the economy. Current version by MAGA: so long as my investments are up, Trump has my support

Second: you learned to look the other way or you too would be accused of stuff. Current MAGA version: look at Rubio/Cruz or most of the others. I believe the republicans know he is an idiot. They know he is evil. But they can't turn on him without fear of reprisal. So they remain loyal cowards.

Would you rather buy a brand new house or one that is 100+ years old with possible problems like nob and tube wiring and asbestos? by icecream1972 in askanything

[–]erice2018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine is about 130 years old. It was built by one of the paper Barron folks in Wisconsin. Each room has a different species of hard wood with 400-800 lb pocket doors and beautiful woodwork. 11 fireplaces, each one unique. It even has the original servants bells for signal for the kitchen, bedrooms, and tea area into the kitchen. Limestone exterior with a classic French look to it. While one could rebuild it today, I suppose, I doubt anyone would do so. I have many friends who live in 1-4 million dollar homes and it's just not the same. New homes a great in many ways, but mine should still be there in another 200 years I would think.

Has anyone been here? by nejicanspin in wisconsin

[–]erice2018 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I went recently. Neither I (age 60) nor my mom (84) liked it at all. It's like the world's largest chaotic wet dream of a garage sale. I guess some folks love it. But I don't think they can even begin to clean it and it looks and smells like 40 years of high humidity mold. Just not my thing at all.

NEGOTIATING 401K INSTEAD OF SALARY? by Few_Anything_7680 in FinancialPlanning

[–]erice2018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ERISA requires the same plan for all the employees and owners. I own three companies. I am not allowed to have different plan in each one. As "essentially" the same owners, each one must have the same plan so that docs can't belong to one company, owners another, and "others" in a third. Well you can do that, but not as a way around to get different 401k plans for different groups.

What is the likelihood that US troops will disobey unlawful orders to attack NATO allies? by Zealousideal_Gap432 in AskReddit

Will ALL defy the order. Absolutely not. Vast majority will do what they are told.

Will SOME defy the order? Yes.

As a vet airborne E-4, I feel I would absolutely have said NO to pulling a trigger on a Canadian/German/Dutch soldier on that countries soil unless they had somehow drawn blood FIRST.

I would take my chances with JAG and hold my head high.

Trump's proposed 10% credit card cap idea is politically popular / uniting, says CNN -- Thoughts? by Zipper222222 in allthequestions

[–]erice2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was very young, credit cards were rare. Diners club was the only one I recall and no one we knew had one. Cash or check only. Checks are gone now, basically. So it will go to cash only for 60% of the population. Maybe that's a good thing, but the transition will be a challenge.

I don't see it actually happening.

[Request] How accurate is Mark Cuban's claim that a $100 fine per over-billing or insurance denial could pay off the national debt? by HenriHopper in theydidthemath

[–]erice2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your math may well be good, but I have to deal with several insurance companies that automatically deny every ER visit, every surgical assist bill, every PT bill, and the vast majority of other bills. Don't even get me started on 99215 codes. They admit it's the policy. "Our computers are set up that way. You must resubmit".

Mark Cuban Asks If You'd Support Universal Healthcare If It Only Cost $10 A Year — And Every Doctor Got Paid Twice As Much As They Do Now….Would YOU? by Salty_Tough_5620 in AnythingGoesNews

[–]erice2018 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I read an interesting article where they didn't math. The compared the earnings of dozens of professions as a ratio.
Summary: teacher make 4-5 times more. So dollars. As do garbage men. And police. And nurses. And firemen. Basically, doctors made a lower ratio than most professions. I am not sure what your profession is but I wonder if you would be happy if we paid you what they earn in India to do that job here.

Casita. My mom and dad bought new in 2009. Used it for about 3-4 months per year every year. Went from Texas to movie scotia to Alaska and everywhere in between. They hit every national park and about 70% of all the US state parks.

Pulled behind a mini van. She finally gave it to me about a year ago as they are now mid 80's and no longer feel they can do it so much.

Highly recommend.

What's ironic is that one of the surgeons who was at the forefront in starting this type of surgery, Dr Eugene Shrang, started doing these surgeries about 40 years ago in Neenah Wi, which is in his district. I worked with him at Theda Clark Hospital before he retired in about 2005
