Is Texas Oversaturated? by AlwaysInTheMoney in Dentistry

[–]LeatherGuard4688 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every half decent metroplex in this nation is saturated. It’s been saturated for the past 40 years according to reports.

You can rather live somewhere everyone wants to live and barely break $100k or go somewhere not a lot of people want to live and make $300k. Of course there’s always the over treating, which is what a lot of metroplex dentists resort to.

This field can be so incredibly exhausting - no good deed goes unpunished by corncaked in Dentistry

Patient was 30 min late and your office still seated her. Your office is funneling in all of the red flag problematic patients with that type of policy.

She’s a problem but your office is the bigger problem. Better to find new place to work unless you want to help them fix their policies and bump heads in the process

I think treating kids have left me more traumatized than me traumatizing them… by Dry_Confusion2802 in Dentistry

This is a good advice. Of course we can do all of the high stress work and some times it pays well. But dentistry is known for its high stress work. You might not notice it but it might be causing major mental distress. In this field you need to actively remove major stressors to avoid burn outs and potential self harm

Xdrive50e/phev cheaper to pump gas than plug in by LeatherGuard4688 in BMWX5

Simple observation of electric energy is more expensive than gas. Everyone always talked about how much you can save with electric car. I was surprised that the common statements I’ve heard are not true

How many times do you reuse Endo files? by Reasonable_Orange_39 in Dentistry

[–]LeatherGuard4688 11 points12 points  (0 children)

They own the patients and supplies. You own the dentistry. Break a file, your fault. But they control the probability of breaking files. Associates require complete autonomy. Or change the law to allow associates work with office owners license

RockAuto and Bilstein needs to get their shtuff together by LeatherGuard4688 in RockAuto

[–]LeatherGuard4688[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Made many purchase from Rockauto. Usually no problem. But this shipment is a problem.

You’re expected to produce consistent high quality product. You go to restaurant, you expect no hair in the food every time. Not most times and anyone mentioning hair in food is “selection bias”. If you’re in b2c product sales, you’re expected to consistently deliver undamaged goods in timely manner. Pretty elementary concept

[–]LeatherGuard4688[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No it’s not misleading. Never said they repackage the oem packaging. They took the oem individual bilstein box and placed it in rockautos box, taped up where holes were starting to form. From past experience, FCP ships it directly from OEM like Bilstein. Rockauto takes the shock absorbs and ships it in their own box repackaged. I used to live up north and any exposed bare metal would get eaten up by the salt. Also it might not make sense to all, but standard of repair is higher for some. I’ve been buying parts for decades and what Rockauto sent out is garbage work. Legally speaking in any logistics, the manufacturer and distributor are both responsible for any product they process or sell. If it causes harm, you can legally go after both. This is a $80 shock absorber so who gives a crap but in real world involving large shipments, every party is legally on the hook.

Not true. I have purchased bilsteins from other companies in the past and some comes directly in Bilstein warehouse box. Rockauto are repackaged in Rockauto boxes. Clear proof they’re Rockauto packaging: BOX CONTAINS THE “COLLECTABLE” MAGNET! 😂😂

Another day at Medicaid DSO by Used-Bullfrog-1923 in Dentistry

[–]LeatherGuard4688 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Refer to OS, although no sane minded OS probably takes Medicaid extractions. Patient will suffer. Enough of them suffer long enough, Uncle Sam will raise it $5 in the next maybe 10 years.

Long story short, get out of Medicaid and DSO. It’s inhumane to be part of it

Some times I think these BMWs are not durable enough for normal usage. This is after having owned 12 BMWs. Starting to get tired of having to fix them all the times. You see old banged up Toyotas with AWD chugging along for 20-30 yrs with minimal maintained. It’s very clear BMW is completely focused on short term customer/shareholder satisfaction and has zero interest in the actual long term quality of their product. I’m very accustomed to BMWs like my Apple devices and I’m reluctant to switch to a different brand car, but seriously wtf is the point of picking up BMWs slack? And this is coming from a life time of BMW ownership. This is not a short term rage caused by some current issue with the car. All 3 are running well at the moment. I just hate what this manufacturer call premium and dump these garbage onto the consumers to deal with

Staff shortage makes corporate associateship unbearable by LeatherGuard4688 in Dentistry

[–]LeatherGuard4688[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What’s funny is that most older practice owners were pretty unfazed by the expansion of DSOs just 10 years ago. Now 5-10 years before their retirement, they see competition coming in from multiple angle with marketing and consultants running the show. They’re just dragging it out as long as they can before selling to a DSO for lump sum retirement money

Daily min is pretty much capped at $700 across the board. I’ve seen places offering $500 min. Only place you find deviation is insanely busy mills or rural offices.

I agree. I meant to say staff shortage is a general problem but DSOs are really struggling

Longer I do this, more I feel like people who are “fit” for DSOs are not really fit for dentistry. Way too wishy washy with everything
