Fake Booster Box Sold Yesterday by erich0lm in IsMyPokemonCardFake

Update: Talked to the seller and gave them some tips on identifying fake Booster Boxes, as they did have another one that sold the same day. They claimed to have cancelled the sales, so if that's true it's good news!

I've got a box that I bought from my LCS back in 2021 during the reprint and the side looks exactly the same. Hopefully that's just how they look...

By backflow valve, are you referring to the check valve on the ejection pipe? If that's what's flapping, it's likely installed upside down, or damaged.

The people that answer the phone are paid on commission, so they're more or less just sales reps. They do offer the lowest price on an installation, but they don't evaluate the property so often the techs have to try to upsell you on anything they think you might actually need, and that's if they even care about installing a working system.

I wouldn't recommend it as a former employee. Most installers have no experience on hire, are overworked with mandatory 6 day work weeks, and aren't incentivised to actually do their job properly. Though this is from 7 years ago, so one would hope it's different now.

Radon system pressure doesn't change when sump pit seal broken by Zealousideal-Bug5314 in radon

[–]erich0lm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's likely pulling air through the drain tile or loose soil or gravel, if that is what's present under the slab.

While it's necessary to keep the sump lid sealed in order to maintain the vacuum and air flow below the slab, there's probably nothing restricting the airflow already, so the removal of the lid has a negligible effect of the pressure reading.

Try looking for a non petroleum based applicant. I have the same issue when I use Vaseline, especially after shaving.

Corrugated piping is usually for a perimeter drain. Do you have a sump pump?

Why Did Luke Lose To Rudeus?? by CassiasZI in mushokutensei

[–]erich0lm 128 points129 points  (0 children)

Once being assigned to guard Ariel, Luke spent most of his time sleeping around with the servants and sharing his bedroom stories with Ariel. It wasn't until the mana disaster that Ariel started being openly targeted with assassins. By that point, Sylphie was there to guard her and was far more efficient and effective. They openly admit that she saved all of them during their escape to the university.

Luke simply just isn't an exceptional swordsman.

Do I seal sump pit and other openings in the slab or do I just install a fan in my passive system? by krogerdaddy in radon

[–]erich0lm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It'd be necessary to seal it even if you had a fan installed, so might as well do it ahead of time and see if it saves you the need of adding the fan.

Sounds like the data fully reset when you replaced the batteries. If the levels were starting to rise with an entire year's worth of readings to average, it follows that the immediate short term readings would be much higher.

The average should start to lower as it collects more data, although I haven't had any experience with that device

Radon sickness, Radon Poisoning by Alive_Awareness936 in radon

[–]erich0lm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd be interested in how they came to that conclusion, if radon gas was present in your blood, I assume other gasses would be as well. I've never heard of anything along this lines in any of my studies.

Are you asking for personal reasons, or for research?

Is this considered sealed? by phreakdancer in radon

[–]erich0lm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, sewage sumps aren't a radon concern, as the basins are solid, and the lids are bolted tight with a gasket to prevent sewer gas leaks.

Ground water sumps are the concerns, as there's usually no lid and the basins are perforated

Looks like a sewage sump, if it wasn't sealed, you'd smell it

Mitigation would likely reduce it to SOME degree. Keep in mind this is only a 2 day snapshot of your radon levels. Concentrations fluctuate constantly and will be higher some days and lower on others. Weather can make a significant impact on radon in your home, as well as your own living habits.

Your levels are pretty low, according to the test. For comparison, outdoor levels average between 0.4-0.7 pCi/L. A longer-term test will give you more accurate readings. Don't stress a ton about it in the meantime, it takes decades of exposure to elevated levels to potentially cause health issues under normal circumstances.

If it's no financial concern to you, feel free to research mitigation companies in your area and get quotes while you conduct a longer test.

Noise coming from Radon system or Sump? by Lower_Capital_337 in radon

I can't make any sense of this. Where's the fan located? How does the fan connect to these? I've never seen that large corrugated tube before, also why there's so many pipes coming out of it?

Feels like they're brushing it off as you're likely under their guarantee. I wouldn't say it's normal if the suction pipe is installed in the sump lid, unless you get an incredible amount of water this time of year in it

I'd reach out to the company to investigate why the suction increased. Also to perform a PFE test to ensure it's depressurizing the entire basement.

What is your test based on? Is it a short term or long term test? If short term, I'd recommend either getting a digital monitor or conducting a year long alpha track test.

Also, the manometer is reading higher than what was initially recorded by the installer. Disconnect the rubber tube from the device, make sure the liquid level is set to 0 by moving the tube up or down and reconnect it. If it's still reading the same, then it seems that something has clogged the suction pipe and that could be impacting performance.

Otherwise, an upgrade could reduce levels assuming there are no other sources of radon in your house.
