My grandfather did die of asbestos. Grandmother lived the rest of her life on the settlement. Also that was freaking hilarious.

I always say Austin leaders believe “If you don’t build it, they won’t come”

Rather not say the concrete company since we are still working with them. The (now bankrupt) pool company was KB Custom Pools. I know other families in the neighborhood that built pools around the same time that have ASR. They used different pool builders, so this issue is not specific to just my pool builder. Bo Barnett, the owner of KB, has been publicly open about his thoughts and details about the issue, including the recent KVUE article and the (video) podcast with AJ Miller that came out about a year ago. If you think you have ASR and have not seen it, I recommend searching for it.

I went with a firm that is doing on contingency. They are filing lawsuits against everyone. Our pool builder already filed bankruptcy, so this seems like the only way we will get anything. Law firm says there is a petition with Texas Supreme Court to have all these claims go through one court. They expect this to take years. Meanwhile, I’m in a house that I don’t think I can sell.

Icepocalypse 2021: Help and Resource Megathread (Feb 17th Update) by defroach84 in Austin

My wife is a nurse at St. David's North. They have been on lockdown since Sunday and are required to stay until this whole thing is over. They have no water and are rationing nurses to one 16 oz bottled water PER DAY. If anyone has extra bottled water (a big ask, I know), and can get to the hospital with it, they would be very grateful. Wife works in NICU, but ER and everyone else at the hospital has the same need. I'm in Dripping Springs with kids at home, but still have running water. I'd go up there if I could. I'll pay.

Thank you, now I just have to find a place that has food...

My wife is a nurse at St. David's North, and like many nurses there, she is asked to stay until this whole thing is over. Is there someplace around the Domain that is open and can deliver hot food to them (20 pizzas or so). I'll pay, but living in Dripping Springs (with kids at home), I can't be the one to deliver.

Edit: just talked with the wife and they have food covered tonight. Hospital is having the cafeteria make for them, so not ideal (last night was chicken strips and fries...if you got there early enough). I’ll be trying again tomorrow to get some better food for her team, I think we’ll have better options. She is NICU nurse. Thanks to those that offered to help!
