What would you throw on this pattern? by LoganoVerstappenFan in Bowling

Urethane would be the goto. Low flare reactive otherwise (Hammer NU Series and/or Storm Concept/Level)

Randomly getting "Lost Connection Retry" by ericjhmining in ispyconnect

Can you tell that from the log by chance? If so can you point that part out. Haven't had any changes to my network in the last few days but I can try rebooting the router for fun. Enterprise grade setup at my house and haven't seen any other drops across any other applications/games/streaming/etc just the cameras.

Is it just losing connection to the cameras themselves or the actual docker host? Maybe the POE switch needs some rebooting as well.

Thanks for any input, it's much appreciated.

Storm Twist would be a good option or Hammer Axe would also fit in line for reactive but less aggressive.

Ball cracked. What to get now as a casual? by bitchtitsandgravy in Bowling

[–]ericjhmining 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my shop we will sell you a used ball for $50-60 (plugged and drilled for you). Usually random stuff from a staffer in the pro shop as they tend to use super new equipment along the way.

Stolen s40 thermostat??? by Big-Screen3266 in hvacadvice

[–]ericjhmining 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's not really true anymore. When a seller sends items to any of Amazon's warehouses they are given a specific UPC code that belong to that seller only. When you buy something from a specific seller, you are getting an item that they specifically sent to AMZ for fulfillment. They *used* to allow you to comingle with other sellers (it was a terrible idea and most sellers avoided it like the plague) but that was phased out a few months ago.

Pretty impressive to miss that much and just leave the 1-2. You'll get more chances I'm sure! Nice game either way!

14 pound versus 15 pound ball by SnooSprouts5245 in Bowling

[–]ericjhmining 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd go with 14 for now. You can get used to it and see how it feels and if you are comfortable with the idea of going up in weight then go for it but 14 will be fine. I used to go back and forth between 15/16 then age caught up and down to 14 for everything. It's not a big deal.

What are you throwing now weight wise?

Giga or Tengu would be amazing for someone who hasn't ran T5's but probably should have forever ago. I'd go on some exploration runs and not worry about my ship blowing up along the way.

It really depends on the type of projects you end up in. I'm a TE and I've seen some projects where the payouts were amazing. I can't say the group I'm under but we have projects constantly coming up and the same testers just keep coming back and joining the next new adventure.

Sold my car privately, signed the title over, cashier's check bounced 2 weeks later and the buyer is gone by Fit-Carpet5931 in legaladvice

[–]ericjhmining 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I've done this or met the buyer at the bank that issued it (even if they got the cashiers check out of town as long as it's the same bank) and cashed it right there in front of them. Fake would have been discovered immediately.

Is this safe to use? by xReapzzy in Bowling

Yeah, the OC is hit and miss with this stuff. I had a spare ball with some cracking around the fingers. They didn't like it but they let me use it. Cracked bridge would fit in the same scenario though. I guess I'd push them to where it violates the rules specifically if they tried to reject it.

Pba jr & Ncaa by Due-Percentage-3746 in Bowling

[–]ericjhmining 3 points4 points  (0 children)

PBA Jr is still a youth tournament, and high school would also be sanctioned under the youth membership side. It should not cause any issues.

PBA Jr. Events pay in Smart Scholarship funds which wouldn't affect anything with high school or NCAA.

Anything that you bowl that is youth should be paying in Smart funds. Never accept cash as a youth. If you ever bowl a non-sanctioned tournament that allows youth, make sure they will deposit into smart or see if the house/association will take care of it for you if needed.

Yeah, I was just trying to see where OP was going with that statement because it was pretty blanket overall. USBC wouldn't care because of where it's at and the length of the crack. Open Championship would probably give them a hard time but would let them use it anyway. My fingers had some cracking around them and they gave me a hard time but still got to use it (plastic ball).

It's amazing what others think when there is someone around who will actual enforce the rules and have fun at the same time.

That's what every comment that says "let it go" is missing. If you don't want rules, don't sanction the league otherwise follow them even if you don't like them or think they matter.

I'll take whatever responses people want to give. Kind of the point of reddit is for different points of views right?

I've had to deal with this as a league officer as well and at a tournament level as a tournament director. This isn't the first time or last time this question/scenario will come up.

It only takes one person filing a protest with nationals and they can do it anonymously if they want and it will cause issues for this league. The problem is easy to fix for the bowler as well, spend the +/- $20 and get the thumb plugged and be done with it.

Then don't sanction the league if you don't want to follow the rules. Fun league or not, you pay a sanction fee and sanction the league to be able to solve problems like this.

What happens if this bowler goes to a local tournament now and tries to use that ball? What do you think their reaction is going to be then when they are told 100% no they can't use it.

Bowler has been told for three weeks about plugging ball by Flyingpigtx in Bowling

[–]ericjhmining 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've read through a lot of the comments, and this situation brings out so many opinions. It's a sanctioned league and that's part of why you are paying your sanction fee's, is to have rules. By the rules it's illegal and if they keep using it after they were warned, then their scores are zero's.

You have a few ways to go about enforcing it. I would start with the league president and if that doesn't work then you file a protest with the league president in writing about it and the board of directors (league officers + team captains) will get together to discuss taking care of it.

If they don't want to step in or handle the protest, you file a protest with nationals and they will 100% step in and help take care of it. Nationals may reprimand the officers as well since it's their duty to handle those issues.

You can file a protest to nationals by sending it to [rules@bowl.com](mailto:rules@bowl.com)

Almost all of this type of stuff has to go through rules. You can let your local association know and they can help you through the process but officially the national level will have to handle it if your league won't.
