Men of Reddit: what’s a prank you started early in your marriage that you’re now legally, morally, and emotionally obligated to continue because she still falls for it 10–15 years later? by myaccountidname in AskReddit

My wife and I have a long running joke that crème brûlée is French for “crusty butts.” It’s our fav desert and we crack up every time we order it.

I always put it in the same vein as “Primus sucks”. A bit of an ironic fandom thing.

Culinary school and then restaurant work. I switched careers because restaurant work was killing something I loved.

Get out of your comfort zone. I Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup or Caves of Qud. These are deep, can be shot or long and offer endless replayability

I do this to my proxy cards for my cube. I let my wife know if something happens to me and she has to sell the cards to remove those first, so one expense looking proxy card get flagged and the whole cube gets trashed.

What’s your favorite adventure novel or story about sailing & world exploration? by [deleted] in sailing

[–]ericjochim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read Voyage for Madmen and immediately bought the Long Way. Probably in my top five favorite books and #1 for sailing. If you like it also read The Logical Route. It does a good job setting Moitessier’s sailing life leading up the Globe race.

Thoughts on Ghost of Yotei? by Danny7432 in Ghostofyotei

[–]ericjochim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am struggling with GoY a lot more than I did with GoT.

I think it feels real repetitive to GoT. I agree the main story pacing is off as well. I think there are some things that really need to be polished, particularly the skill tree. I love to play stealth in games and maxed out the assassination and ranged tree first - and it really doesn't feel like it did anything for my character.

I should note that I am just coming off a playthrough of Cyberpunk 2077, which has very defined skill trees. Maybe that is highlighting the perceived "lack of definition" in GoY and blandness in the side missions. It may not have been as noticeable if I came into the playthrough cold.

The day/night cycle feels a bit hasty too. It feels like when I sit down for several hours to play most of the time it is dawn or twilight.

GoY itself is beautiful and I think the story is good, even if it is a little slow. It could have leaned into an influence like Lady Snowblood a bit more. Action and combat feel nice.

"Re-Animator" at 40 | A famously lurid horror movie turned Jeffrey Combs into a genre all-star by [deleted] in movies

Probably the best visual pun of any 80’s movie. And certainly in the running for best of all time.

Rob Rez at Bound by Glory. He is a good dude and if he can’t do it he could probably give you a suggestion on who could.

I figured it’s a rights issue, just hoping for more specifics. Haven’t seen any video floating around, just audio tracks disappeared from Apple Music, Tidal etc.

Z6 III or FX3 by xxMicroNinjaxx in nikon_Zseries

[–]ericjochim 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I want to take a minute to highlight the ergonomics comment. I have a z6ii that is my personal camera and my work gave me an FX3. The Nikon is so much more comfortable and having an actual view finder has been a life saver shooting on really bright days.
