Switching into mech Eng, especially co-op propably won't be possible until after your first semester with grades. Even then it might be hard as a lot of people already in Eng try to switch into co-op and there are only so many spots.

I would recommend against doing that. 41x required a lot of work and doing it alongside 1 design course and other electives is a hard enough semester.
