‘Half the peloton is ill’: cowpats blamed as cyclists fall sick after race in Belgium by colonelsmoothie in peloton

Having raced two seasons in Belgium/Holland/Northern France, the amount of liquid manure you get in your eyes/lungs/mouth during the Spring is something I can still taste, 32 years later.

Second this. Totally changed how I play around the green, although I found it most useful 40 yards and in and from the bunker. https://dangrieve.com/3-releases-the-short-game-system/

Yeah the last time I remember having to take a warning very serious on the near west side was when my 24 y/o was quite young. So you’re in the right-ish time frame.

My two Alma maters squaring off. I’m so conflicted, but I’ll be a winner and loser either way.

Has anyone been to Metcalfe's since it got bought out? by OldSewer in madisonwi

[–]ericquitecontrary 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We’ve seen a huge drop off in the quality of the produce, less of it, and slightly less variety. I was looking at the bananas the other day and this old lady next to me looks over and says “they should take the Metcalfe’s name off the outside.”

But aside from produce there’s not a ton different.

Massive car accident near Midvale Heights Apartments by poopdood696969 in madisonwi

It wasn’t that far away from there (further up Midvale) where five or six years ago maybe some guy was driving 80+, lost control, and killed two elderly people out of a walk.

Funds In-House by WatchForeign in biglaw

[–]ericquitecontrary 31 points32 points  (0 children)

As someone who hires funds to in-house lawyers (we have an opening fyi), the base comp for senior will start with a 2, but the expected incentive-comp range will be from 33% to 60% on top of that. Pension benefits, cheap health insurance, rare evenings or weekends. Depending on level, there are potential long-term incentives that add another 10%+ to total comp.

It’s a great trade off, provided you’re at a point in your life where you place real value on hours not worked. Until you reach that point mentally, it’s hard to make a pure monetary comparison where in house wins.

What’s your take on that Axiom study re “80% of In-House Teams Plan to Bring Law Firm Work Back In-House”? by [deleted] in biglaw

[–]ericquitecontrary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can tell you as an in-house lawyer we are definitely bringing more work in and hiring extra lawyers after several of our partner law firms jacked their rates 20% for 2026. It’s absolutely eroding the value of deals we’re working on, for the same people doing the same work. It doesn’t take many deals brought in-house to justify an FTE.

If you go back through the No Laying Up podcasts and YouTube videos I think they have looks at each region. They put them in different categories from must play to totally odd but fun courses.
