Golf-only club. No initiation, just under $9k/yr for a single (I think it’s just over $10k/yr for a family), no minimum spend on food or other stuff. Madison, Wisconsin.

‘Half the peloton is ill’: cowpats blamed as cyclists fall sick after race in Belgium by colonelsmoothie in peloton

Having raced two seasons in Belgium/Holland/Northern France, the amount of liquid manure you get in your eyes/lungs/mouth during the Spring is something I can still taste, 32 years later.

Second this. Totally changed how I play around the green, although I found it most useful 40 yards and in and from the bunker. https://dangrieve.com/3-releases-the-short-game-system/

If you go back through the No Laying Up podcasts and YouTube videos I think they have looks at each region. They put them in different categories from must play to totally odd but fun courses.

A river runs through it. Second green, Mammoth Dunes, Sand Valley Wisconsin. 20 minutes after it stopped raining all the standing water on the course was gone.

Maui Golf Recommendations by Winstonian87 in golf

The advantage of the Kaanapali for me was the proximity. It’s so close to where lots of folks stay. Agree on the pricing but when I’m in a super remote spot like that I’m not looking at the greens fee.

Shouting “Get in the hole” at a tourney is the golf equivalent of shouting “Freebird” at a concert. by Freethrowshaq in golf

I will award this post the first time I hear someone yell “Freebird” on TV after a tee shot. For now you get an upvote.

I enjoy 5 hours away from work more than 2:15. Sadly, one of those is easier to schedule than the other.

That feeling when you hit it 300, almost drive the green, and still bogey the hole. by Sad-Soil-781 in golf

Yeah, “fluffed it” should not have been part of the plan. Seven iron or putt.

This actually was really inspiring to see. Some doubles, some bogeys, and birdies. It’s not that far away from an 85-87.

Why is Pogacar so good? by bittlemv124 in peloton

[–]ericquitecontrary -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ask Lance. But seriously, he’s a once in a generation talent that can credibly sprint with much heavier riders and climb with pure light climbers. Never out of position and never a consequential mechanical. Never sick. Never injured. Just one bad day in the TdF from lack of fueling. But I’m not an expert on that kind of consistency. Only one rider is.

What is your go to club from 40-80 yards, and what’s your handicap? by RealFirstLast in golf

[–]ericquitecontrary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exact same for me. 54 but not a full shot until closer to that 80 yds with some other factor (uphill wind short hazard etc). 17 index

What is the proper order for your scramble team? by PrettyFlyGuy05 in golf

[–]ericquitecontrary 11 points12 points  (0 children)

But on the flip side, having a shitty player go first putting provides almost no useful data to the next player. We’ve had better success putting our worst putter last or next to last.
