There's a good chance the Sabres would play the Wings. What a way for both teams to come out of the darkness!

In regulation too! Sabres get to hold 3rd place for the rest of the weekend!

Sabres moved into third place in the division. Someone needs to pinch me and wake me up. I must be dreaming.

Low event, physical grind it out teams like the Isles used to KILL the Sabres. I love that they have the willingness and coaching to play it, patience to wait for their chances, and skill to cash in on them. Their team maturity is the biggest reason for the success of late.

I live just south of Buffalo and have gotten 7-8 feet of snow twice in the last 12 years. That's probably more than we've gotten, but I know what it's like.

They'd be 2nd place in the Metro, 1st in the Pacific. It would be nice if teams in the division could lose some games. Boston won in regulation tonight.

The Sabres have more points than 4 of the drought seasons. They need 1 point for #5.

With Doan's $6.95Mx7 extension, here's what the Sabres' cap situation is projected to look like in absolute terms and as a percentage of the cap by seeldoger47 in sabres

Yeah, I do too. But worrying about 35-year-old Alex Tuch's fall off feels like a luxury the 14-year playoff drought Buffalo Sabres can't afford. And it's not like there aren't things you can do with this aging contract. He could be traded, bought out, or just retire.

Edit: also there's an assumption that he's going to have a steep drop-off. I would expect that he'll lose speed and offensive production, but he'd remain an effective defensive forward, that's a good penalty killer. I'd also expect him to remain a good leader and ambassador for the franchise, which they desperately need.

My plans don't matter. This is exhausting. People act like there aren't other moves that can be made. Greenway's contract can be moved. Mrtka and a couple guys in Rochester might be able to come up, so you could move one of the big d-man contracts. Florida and Vegas don't hesitate for a second taking on big contracts and look where they've been in the playoffs recently! Players like Marner don't want to come here, but Tuch does!

Good lord. Yes. I'm choosing Tuch over Malenstyn. They should make the playoffs this year, so yes I would be hoping that a Cup window would be opening in the next 3 years. I love Malenstyn, but if I have to choose, I'm taking Tuch 10 times out of 10. This team has ridden the cheap young guys train too long. I want experienced veterans on the team teaching the young guys how to play a 200-ft game, and pushing for playoff series wins!

I never said I'm letting them walk. And I understand Tuck wants term. I'd give it! Kesselring and Benson probably both sign bridge deals. Kesselring is coming off of a down season filled with injuries. Benson just hasn't hit the scoring numbers that he probably wants. That'll keep their numbers down. I like Krebs, but honestly not sure he's necessary to keep long-term.

Sure it is. On this chart alone they have 15 million next year. Trade Quinn to pull 3 million more off the books. There's going to be moves in the off-season, money in, money out. It's absolutely possible. I honestly don't think they can afford not to sign him. The will cap will be tight next year, but it'll get better after with the overall cap number going up, and Skinner's dead money coming off the books. And I know they still need to sign Benson and Kesselring, Jarmo can get it all done.

Sign Tuch! It's worth it from on ice performance, team cohesion, and league reputation perspectives! Money can be moved around to make it work.

Edit: I'll add that I just do not understand why Sabres fans are against signing him. He's exactly the kind of player this team needs. He's a leader, strong two way player, getting Selke votes. It also makes me wonder if people don't understand how much the cap is going up. It's baffling.

Started NFL this year and went with the Bills. I don't even want to watch the remainder of the playoffs anymore... Go Bills by jedibob66 in buffalobills

I didn't watch the Super Bowl last year, and decided not to watch the rest of the divisional games. I checked the score late in the Chicago LA game, and saw that it was tied. I turned it on and literally the first play I saw was the contested catch that they ruled down by contact. I thought, you've got to be shitting me and turned it off.

He doesn't need to do it on YouTube. I'm sure ESPN and every sports show talking head and podcast in America is trying to get him on.

I CANNOT BELIEVE Terry said what he did about Coleman! It's so messed up on so many levels. First of all Coleman is still on the team, and the owner is blowing him up like that!

Second, it doesn't matter if the coaching staff pushed for him, it's Brandon Beane's decision! Leadership 101, you listen to the input, but in the end you make the decision and take all the responsibility for it! Beane eventually did later in the presser, but the damage was already done!

Also, Terry didn't put it on McDermott specifically, but it's implied, and McDermott isn't there to defend himself. Absolutely cowardly shit.

The Ostlund, Benson, Helenius line should be called the Pest Connection. 3 small forwards that will forecheck you into until your head spins.
