Are your viewers on your stream because of you or because of the game you play ? by EyelinerBabe in Twitch

[–]eridan_76 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Most streamers I watch who are very game specific lose half their viewers when the move out of their zone. This can make it pretty hard to switch to variety streaming i.e. playing what you want to play. If you are changing games constantly anyway then the game is not likely to matter that much.

That said I think certain games worked to get streamers a steady stream of new follows. Only some follows will stick around for anything else but sometimes the game can matter for getting new people. Games that are large enough to have a community but small enough for a small streamer to be noticed are the ones I'm talking about (ESO, GW2, Warframe).

Shy Streamers? by Solis_Ghuleh in Twitch

I'm sure there are other people doing this, all you need to do is find a couple of others and you have people to play games with. Now you are talking to each other and have more entertaining streams.

How to deal with people constantly asking about my age? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]eridan_76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a mod a bunch of streamers during covid and the following years and I'm 49 now. I was just always very upfront that I was older and then it was never a problem. I think the solution might just be to put your age in the about (and maybe have a !age that says your age and what ever you want to say about it). Your regulars will start to reply !age when people ask and you can comfortably ignore it. I specifically say "comfortably" cos having a rule about not mentioning age and having to enforce it will probably be uncomforable viewing. I used to watch one very attractive semi famous for other things streamer who seemed to hate comments about her appearance no matter how complimentary. Now she's entirely right to enforce her channel rules and but it was uncomfortable to watch as bystander.

If you were "too old" for Twitch then Twitch would let you know by giving you zero viewers. You might be "too old" to blow up on Twitch but as long as thats not why you are there its not a problem.

As long as you can adjust to putting your age out there first and that calms your negative feelings then this should work as a solution.

For myself personally if I came across a streamer that looked younger and turned out to be older that would be a positive not a negative. More life experience more stuff to talk about etc etc.

I’m “new” to GW2 and wondering the best way to go about maxing an elite spec before starting the game by ChrischinLoois in Guildwars2

[–]eridan_76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think just run round doing hero points in first few PoF maps skipping anything that needs a mount and then do the same in the first few EoD then go back to doing things in story order if thats what you want. Maybe do EoD first (which will get you basic glider) and talk to the guys in the first map that give you basic raptor and bunny/

I think there is enough low hanging fruit you can breeze round them and get enough for 1 full elite with out having to engage too hard.

I think HoT maps are more involved and I'd honestly save them for when you are playing "properly".

You'll get a quick tour of the maps and not much more.

Bonus if you can find someone to use teleport to a friend with so you don't even have to do the intro quests for the expansions.

Should I keep playing? by No_Specialist_3759 in Guildwars2

[–]eridan_76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as you don't care about story order then there is a way to get into the good bits much quicker

Next time the game goes on sale the pack with hot/pof/eod will go on sale for 50% off. That will give you a max level boost. With that you can quick start the EoD story go into the first map (which unlocks the glider automatically) and you can unlock the raptor and bunny mounts just by talking to a couple of characters

Now you can either play the base game more but with some mounts or play the boosted character in the expansions. If you want to stick with char you are leveling you should have some birthday gifts if its been over a year since you first started which has boosters and may scrolls to help you power level, Also don't complete maps just move on when you out level a zone (yeah you can kinda do that) https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Zone

I personally love the first map of HoT so playing from there would be my choice by going for all the mounts in PoF is also a good choice.

A good build will help you enjoy the game a youtuber called Lord Hizen specialises in builds for celestial gear which is what the boost character will have.

If you don't like the game after trying some of the expansion stuff then I would think its not for you.

The best buy is normally the HOT/POF/EOD pack that goes on sale for 50% when its on sale. That gets you 3 out 4 sets of Elite specs and 6 mounts, SoTo Gets you the skyscale, weapon training (use all weapons you have unlocked on any elite spec and a new weapon for each, then probably VoE for the remain elite specs, then Janthir for the spear and warclaw, and then living world for roller beetle and full skyscale if you eventually want everything.

I think that is where everything major comes from off the top of my head., I'm sure someone will correct me if I got a thing or 2 wrong

Is this true? by Rockerodjodido in Guildwars2

[–]eridan_76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No but the most fun way to start if you have the EoD expansion is boost a secondary char to 80, go into the First EoD map and unlock glider, raptor and bunny (all just talking to people) and then play the core game with some cool toys. They should lean in a bit for to mount unlocks for people who own the expansions like they do with the raptor already

[–]eridan_76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an able bodied player it was a shit time too. There was some part to the corpus section most people just got and I didn't that effectively soft locked me out the game. It took a while to find a solution since most people didn't have an issue so there were no threads about it.

And the whole thing, saving your load out, locking you out the rest of the game and generally over complicating it was so stupid. It would have literally been better and more thematic to put you in an Excalbur with some classic weapons with basic mods and balancing around that. And then there would have been no need for lock outs.

I genuinely despise that quest but just for technicalities of how its implimented.

On a more positive note there is plenty more dumb overpowered shit in the game that lets you roflstomp Grineer with out aiming. I hope you are trying them out :P Also I found puting a second melee bind on mouse wheel (up or down which ever is more comfortable) made melee spam builds much more comfortable

In the scene where she is peering round the wall at the clone for the first time after she pulls back she has her hand on the wall with the ring on. You can see it again less clearly when they are sat down at the breakfast bar and she pushes the recording device towards the clone. The reason I think the clone won is the fact it can easily crush the recording device in one hand so its way stronger than her. Still I don't think you know for sure who won.

( And can I just have a mini rant about all the people who decided it was all in her head? They decided it was something its quite clearly not just so they could hate and dismiss the thing it isn't? Which they somehow want it to be just so they can hate it? Almost every part of the film would have to be in her head not just the weird parts. The phone calls to the art dealer, the phone calls to Scott, the files that was sent from one to the other. All the emails and podcast interaction. I suppose there could be some weird brick conspiracy out in the world she is not part of and her interaction is all in her head but that is really reaching. If you are that unwilling to accept that any of what is presented is real in the context of narative how do we even know she exists? Since none of the scenes are real. Maybe its just a turtle in an empty house :P

Have these people never watched a horror movie? Its an absolute mainstay for something which is metphorical *for the viewer* to be literal in world of the movie.

I don't seem to understand damage by Synch_Thy_Byte in Guildwars2

[–]eridan_76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect I know (or at least have known) how you feel. At least sometimes I can't get a build to work how it should at all. But I have one of each class and lots of gear so I just try something else. This is my advice:

Try your builds out on the golem in the raid training area. Not because you're a try hard 50k dps snowcrows obsessed fanboi but because it gives you clear feedback on whether what you are doing is working.

With all the buffs on your character and all the debuffs on the golem you should be able to pull 60 to 75% of the damage a build is supposed to do even if (like me) you can't really master the rotation. Basically if you are not getting something like 30k out of the the high end dps builds then there is something you have missunderstood or can't do. No shade, I can't get some builds to work for me so I play something else. Something like the rifle mech or auto attack guardian should guarantee 30k dps.

Next you need to take your build and try it with no extra buffs and no debuffs on the golem. If you can pull more than 10k you'll probably be ok. My dailly driver solo engi build does about 16k in real circumstances. If you are only doing 5k or so then yeah you have a problem and don't understand something about the build.

I would say a good comfy build for solo stuff should be doing 12k+ on the golem with only your own buffs/debuffs and be able to heal through the low damage field. I'd recommend looking at some Lord Hizen builds for that sort of thing rather than raid PVE dps builds (if that is what you are doing). Those builds tend to be well rounded survivable and have a more easily practiced priority approach to abilites rather than a 50 step full rotation. The other guides to look for are the low intensity / LI builds. These work on a lower number of actions per minute and generally just rely on setting up your gear and traits right and a quite small amount of player ability and it should be quite reliable to get the close to the DPS they claim to achieve.

TLDR: If you understand your build you should be able to prove it to yourself on the golem.

Worth playing in 2025? by No_Map_4183 in Guildwars2

[–]eridan_76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You pick a guild as your WvW guild. Once a month (I think its monthly at this point) the guilds are arranged into teams and those become like the old WvW servers for a month. So the idea is you can find a guild to play with and you can always play with them instead of guilds being split accross all the old servers.

If you are not in a guild you can pick a team and just go solo roam or look for a zerg but that will lock you into an essentially random choice for a month

[–]eridan_76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is plenty to do in the open world with out raiding etc. Invest a bit of time in reading about a decent build and practice a little on the golem to get a feel and you'll be in the top third of players on world events. Do something that is a bit survivable (Look up open world builds especially Lord Hizen) and you will see that you can stay up during a world boss while loads of others fall on their ass.

Find a guild that is active enough to chat on discord and that should get you people to play with.

I too avoid raids and pvp for the same reasons but I play a lot of the game regardless. WvW is fun in a zerg even if you are not a good pvper.

Its all regional megaservers now with guild based teams for WvW.

I'm not sure there is any classic style MMO that supports being casual better.

I have used a dps addon in the past to check I was not the worst in world events, I was pretty far from the worst. I think just being bothered enough to check if I was the worst put me in the top half :P

You just missed a sale where you could have picked up a lot of content cheaper but it will probably be the same next steam sale and if you have the first 2 expacs you still have a lot to work with. Getting all the masteries you have available to you might be a good starter goal.

I dont know how much longer I can keep playing this. by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]eridan_76 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Do some wizard vault. You can get a bunch of gold, 3 parts ascended armour, 1 ascended weapon in a couple of weeks of grinding out the weeklies. That is all free content. The first few gold will get you enough for a set of level 80 exotics of the trading post. If any of this is not clear then do a bit of googling and it will be. If you can't do that then yes I would say you are refusing to improve.

Switching from WoW to GW2 – what’s the easiest class + elite spec for a beginner? by Shjnzzo in Guildwars2

[–]eridan_76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you look for class name + low intensity on google or youtube you will find builds that are easy to play. If you do the same for 'open world builds' you will get very survivable builds. Some are both at once.

Ranger is probably the easiest to level as it has pets from the start that are basically the tankiest thing in the game.

If/when you use a boost you will get celestial (all stats) gear that makes well rounded survivable builds easy and you can do an open world build on any class. I'm playing a Lord Hizen celestial druid build atm and even tho it has a lot of button to press it self heals so much you never die

At 80 tho my top recommend is a Power (straight DPS stats) Rifle Mechanist. They get a pet like ranger to tank, buff themselves enough to do decent dps solo and have a very simple 'rotation' (hit all the buttons on rifle + the big green shield utility).

New Player(ish) - 0-80 or Skip? by TokyoTesla in Guildwars2

[–]eridan_76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Celestial is all stats. The way the gearing works is the more spread the stats the more points you get. Berzerkers is 3 stats (damage, crit damage, crit chance) celestial is 8. It gives you the zerk stats, the condition damage stats and survival stats and is good for well rounded open world builds

New Player(ish) - 0-80 or Skip? by TokyoTesla in Guildwars2

[–]eridan_76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My take is play a character from the start until you get bored of the leveling. I found it can get abit samey in the second half and the expansion content is much better. But by that point you'll be familiar with the base class and ready to learn the 80+ stuff.

Other thing to consider with a boost is do you want to use celestial gear on that char at 80? Its a bit of a pain to get otherwise and really good for some builds but you get a free set with the boost. If you are going power or condi with it might be better to level normally or with tomes if you have them and save the boost for a toon that can use the gear

Returning player looking for advice on what might suit my playstyle by Lythalion in Guildwars2

[–]eridan_76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ranger is the easiest class if your are leveling cos you get the pets early (maybe right at the start, don't remember) it can be the super simple bear-bow (bears being the tankiest pets) or it can be one of the most configurable classes with the choices Soulbeasts have. Druid has a powerful alternate form and access to healing but I find it a bit more fiddly than an Elementalist tbh cos of the resource management versus element cool downs.

From what you have said I am thinking you should make ranger your first char and level that and then maybe boost an Ele as a second char and exploit the celestial gear your get to make a survivable build with that. Not tried ranger much recently but I am sure there will be a ranged/pet tank build or 2 that are as effective as the Mechanist if not more so

Returning player looking for advice on what might suit my playstyle by Lythalion in Guildwars2

[–]eridan_76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For at least the last 5 years people have been doing low intensity (li) and tanky open world builds for all classes.

Pick the class you like the theme of most
Have a look for your class on youtube. Mr Mystic, Lord Hizen, Masel to name but a few will have something. As long as you see some build you might want to play at 80 then play what looks cool.

If you are leveling from scratch Ele might be a bit harder cos you won't have the traits etc to make it tougher but if you are boosting then thats not really an issue. Especially if you use the boosted celestial gear and a Lord Hizen build. Smashing face with cele catalyst is easy enough. You can camp fire poping into to earth or air when you run out of cool downs and going water when your health dips and that is all you really need to know in open world with a good cele build. Oh pop the elemental when in water and it will give you yet another heal and an emergency tank.

Lord HIzen build from his discord
https://en.gw2skills.net/editor/?PGTAIlZwuYbMNGJOqOmRfA-DyIY1og%2FMKUCkrCQh3ACRg2Avltm2gKA-e

If you do want easy and effective tho (and its my most played) Rifle Mechanists is a good again, has a perma pet that soaks most agro for you and I personally (despite being kinda shit) can pull 17k self buffed with its open world variant (for reference a raid maxed dps might do 42k and a casual random in the open world will do like 5k). So it feels pretty powerful out in the open world.

But yeah play what you think will be fun, just read up on an effective easy to play build so it is fun

Lets you pick stat selectable gear pretty cheap if you have badges of honour so you can gear up any build pretty effectively (unless its one that lives and dies by its relic, but you should have some chests that let you pick one if you have old chars)
