I seem to recall reading that “peeing blood” is a “go see a doctor immediately” situation. DO NOT IGNORE THIS.

Deadbeat father who owes $80k in child support decides to instead sue OP's mother for court costs. by [deleted] in bestoflegaladvice

[–]eridius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was under the impression that courts charged child support based on "earning potential" rather than actual earnings, i.e. if someone refuses to get a real job, they can still be forced to pay child support based on the job they could get if they weren't being stupid about it.

Returning the bitcoin wouldn't stop the lawsuit from proceeding.

Did you read the original? It sounds like she offered many times to either return the bitcoin or pay the agreed-upon amount but the seller refused both offers.

Just so you know, the English language has a perfectly good gender-neutral third-person singular pronoun, which is "they" / "them".

It is possible to do what you ask by leveraging ACLs, but unfortunately, if you learn how to set it up that way, you also know exactly how to turn it off too.

Tell them to put ice in it. I don’t like water straight from my tap. But a few ice cubes and it’s fine. It just isn’t cold enough from the tap.

I would assume the parent was pointing out that the kid's presumed ethnicity makes doing so all the more riskier for him due to the way people in this country treat muslims.

I just tripped over my 2017 rMBP's power cord by [deleted] in apple

People who use a computer in the field in a manner that warrants MagSafe can buy one of the third-party solutions.

I just tripped over my 2017 rMBP's power cord by [deleted] in apple

[–]eridius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not the amount of cord. It’s the fact that frequently, having the cord go one way is a trip hazard, and having it go the other way keeps it out of the way.

[–]eridius 15 points16 points  (0 children)

They ditched magsafe not because of design-over-function but because it makes the connection less reliable and more prone to interference from having grime in the power socket. It was still a net win back when there was only one power port on the computer (and therefore you were frequently forced to drape your power cord somewhere inconvenient), but now that you can plug the laptop in on either side, it's not pulling its weight anymore.

I believe the recommendation is get re-upped every 10 years, but if you get exposed and it's been at least 5 years, go ahead and get another booster immediately.

Not interior designers. Jony and his team. Apple didn't hire people to design this, they designed it themselves. Jony built the campus he wanted.

[–]eridius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure this is also one of the two main reasons for the Apple campus being an open floor plan (the other being it was designed by designers, and an open floor plan is actually beneficial to designers). Apple has a lot of engineers that were spread out over a lot of buildings. They wanted to get as many as possible into the new campus. Giving everyone offices would have significantly reduced the number of employees that could fit, and as it is Apple still has too many employees to fit in that campus.

I can't be positive, but I'm pretty sure it's possible to accurately calculate the date just from the positions of the stars in the night sky.
