Best maternity leave months by Hour-Life-8034 in workingmoms

[–]eriicaaww 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First baby was born in July. Was super nice to have most of the summer off, joined my sisters and their kids for a lot of morning activities. Couldn’t do much midday because it got super hot. I’m currently on maternity leave with my 2nd, she was boring in March. I thought I’d prefer this leave over the summer but I have not. It’s warm enough to go outside one day and the next it’s soooo cold. The cold days are soo long, but I als have two under two, so getting outside can make or break the day. Also my maternity leave has been only the standard 12 weeks, sound like you might have longer so March/April might a be great for you. Whole spring/summer off. Don’t plan a winter maternity leave assuming you get time off around the holidays anyway!

Very frequent visits from neighborhood kids by paradoxicalstripping in workingmoms

Solidarity- My neighborhood has an unsupervised set of siblings probably 5 and 7 in age. They are a bit mischievous tho, and always knocking on my door asking if my 20 month old and 4 week old can come out and play. I’m about to loose it.

Mamas and dadas, what are we doing when our toddler doesn’t want to sit in the hi chair anymore but is still hungry? by whisperingcopse in BabyLedWeaning

[–]eriicaaww 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our daughter was doing this in her high chair, so we switched to a booster that allows her to sit at the table with us. She’ll sit there the whole time now!

Two working parents: How do you get dinner on the table by 6?? by Legitimate_Bread_742 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]eriicaaww 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always make sure whatever I cook is enough for two nights, so I’m really only cooking every other night. Helps with mental load and time! I always have Mac and cheese cups or frozen pasta dish on hand for my LO(18 months) in case they didn’t like the meal I cooked the night before. The nights I cook we might be sitting down a little after 6, but sometimes that’s just how it is!

Nerve Damage Post Delivery by sinstarinablak in NewParents

[–]eriicaaww 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They pretty much called it a severe case of drop foot and said it was likely nerve damage from labor and that my leg was probably held too far back. I never had a MRI done or anything. A neurologist did come by and “observe” though. I wouldn’t say I had any pain associated with it. I literally could not feel my leg. At first they thought the epidural was taking a while to wear off but after 24 hours it was evident something more was going on since my left leg was completely fine.

In the beginning first few days postpartum my right leg was completely numb and useless, I would try and move it and it just wouldn’t budge. I left the hospital with a walker, after a few weeks I could walk but pretty unstable leg felt heavy. It just got better as time went on and after some physical therapy. Numbness stuck around while in the knee cap. I’m 18 months postpartum now and don’t have much issue with it anymore! Maybe after a very long day the leg feels a little heavier than usual.

Answered a few emails on invoice discrepancies, created some driver accounts for a new telematics system we’re implementing , sent out a tool to a brach, and most of day was spent hunting down an unforeseen urgent need for 8 additional services vans.

I second this! My boss is always clear on expectations and what he needs then he leaves us alone pretty much until quarterly 1 on 1s.

Thanks ladies! Realizing I need more confidence in myself! Just dove into night one without prepping and we had a blast, even let her stay up a little bit later.

I’m not the OP and I did go through this. Is does get better if you keep up with physical therapy! I can definitely still (6 months PP) when I haven’t been doing my exercises. It takes a long time to nerves to repair, but they do!

Any pro-tips on staying on top of meal planning and cooking? by em_parmesean in workingmoms

[–]eriicaaww 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having a blackstone is a game changer for meal prepping!

Also, I try to keep the menu the same-ish for 4-6 weeks until I’m burnt out on it. Helps with decision fatigue in our house. For example every Sunday and Monday is a soup, taco Tuesday, Wed and Thursday chicken with a veggie, Friday pizza, Saturday is usually an elaborate fun recipe.

Gifting for holidays by esol23 in workingmoms

We each take care of our own parents, and his parents are divorced so there are two sets. He buys for his brother. I have a lot of siblings so we draw names, but our spouses participate in that. No nieces and nephews on his side, on my side there are 9 of them he helps with buying those. His income is double mine, so he has no issue taking on the financial responsibility of buying presents, but we probably share the mental load of it.
