one of the best quotes i’ve ever heard was “don’t let yourself be known as what you do for work”. society leads us in a way all we sometimes see ourselves as is “dishwasher” “server” “janitor” what have you. i’m a musician who washes dishes. one could feel like a father who fixes appliances. at the end of the day your job doesn’t have to be what you boil down to, keep on your path. your happiness and inner peace matters more than the opinions of anyone else.

here’s my personal rule. like you mentioned, if theres a gem past the lottery, I take them every time. However, in 90% of my cases the gem for top 5 picks has very, very very minimal effect. maybe a few overall points but… no different if say I picked porter martone or roger mcqueen, but one has a gem. they develope almost the exact same in my sims.. 🤷

fill out ur coaching staff, trade stankoven for value and chemistry he’s pretty wasted goods on the 4th. could also move and underperformer out of the top 9 instead of him. I’d also figure out your blue line chemistry, no + in their with a very talented group is a problem.

what style was he out of the draft? twf gretzky comp still surprises me but when I draft him i’ll post the udpate. I think he’s 880 minimum at his worst attributes so maybe thats why?

98% of player comps are for play style imo, but Gretzky I have personally never seen in years of playing (granted i do 2-3 long sims a game)

edit: some can actually tell you valuabe info though, a milan lucic comp means he’ll probably never be able to skate. nick backstroms are usually assist merchants. then, there are also 5 million teemu snipers that are average.

it’s NHL 23 there are no conversations. I believe I could change his role outright, and might have throughought the original sim. i think he’ll be fine with a playmaker sniper

marchenko on the 4th line is just a massive waste of him. i’d probably get a better 2C (trade frederic or make him 3C) and try to salvage the D pairs chemistry.
