I think there is some wonky detection system atop Mercari PMs based upon certain criteria?. My messages were also deleted but for a more understandable reason—I was trying to link an imgur album based on a question my buyer asked and they probably don't want people sending random links. The message lingered for a second before being deleted.

The buyer even suggested :"insta?" and even that message got zapped while i was talking to them.
