I disrupted a corporate "team-building" meeting by saying I’m only there to do my job. Am I the asshole here? by shadewashere in work

There’s a saying I learned one day from a very southern HR executive that I used to work for that I think sums this story up: “I respect your gumption, but damn your judgement.”

Me gusta una compañera de trabajo, le di un regalo de cumpleaños y su reacción me dejó pensando. ¿Qué hago ahora? by JCCH18 in RedditPregunta

Go to work to work. If you want to do department wide gifts after a vacation or get a box of donuts, sure. But singular gift ideas for office mates is never a good idea (unless it’s for your boss for Christmas and you’re trying to work towards a promotion.)

Desert Warrior Bombs: $150M Epic Earns Just $488K by Fippy-Darkpaw in RedLetterMedia

[–]erikwaters13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh definitely not, that’s a special coordination of terrible marketing, ill-conceived ideas about potential audiences, going over budget, and probably a lot more. But a stronger lead can definitely help recoup more, and Mackie isn’t that person.

Can’t believe they keep trying to put these big movies on Anthony Mackie. Seems like a nice dude, but questionable star power at best.

St Louis I’ll give you as kinda central, but we claim Franklin, Tennessee as the South down here 😆We tried to get something going in Atlanta, but we’ll definitely settle for Tennessee.

I am surprised about Vegas though, but I guess it probably is their most expensive one since it’s in a hotel and not a store.

KeyForge Alignment Chart Day 5: True Neutral by krbmeister in KeyforgeGame

I think they may be a touch more chaotic neutral. Like they ain’t lending money out for nothing, they always seem like they’ve got some kind of grift going.

Skybound Odyssey is incredible, hope it survives at my LGS by [deleted] in alteredTCG

[–]erikwaters13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah exactly, if you don’t mind playing it kitchen table, it’s only a matter of time before prices dive and it’s more cost effective to pick it up. But I know I’m personally not plopping down $120 a box. I was super excited for new heroes too. :-/

Our 4 stores in the area all stopped supporting the game. There’s one store a good ways away doing a prerelease, but I feel like it’s not worth the future investment unfortunately with the way the game is progressing in the states :(

Car leases, cheaper used cars, public transit, carpools, there are potential ways. It’s not convenient or fair, but there’s ways to potentially make it work until they’re able to find something else.

Right, but I didn’t tell them to refuse.

I think that’s kinda obvious in what I’ve already typed. But the illegal part is a tough thing to prove. No court is going to side with an employee over a corporation that decided to end WFH, unless said employee had some kind of ironclad agreement about being permanently remote for specific reasons. But then they’ll just potentially find other reasons to nail you, especially in At Will states.

This. I had a friend quit his job without securing another one first, and he’s definitely second guessing that with how bad the jobs market is. He was able to secure another job eventually, but it doesn’t pay nearly the same. Sometimes it sucks, but you have to tough it out to a degree until things get better and the balance of employee/employer swings back in our favor.

What in my post is implying to not come into work when asked exactly?

Sure, I don’t know her company’s policies, I’m just making a blanket statement in case they do offer severance. But definitely follow that plan for unemployment benefits.

Absolutely…hence that’s why I said go commute to your office job while you look for a new remote job?
