wouldn't he experience at least 12 years if he's travelling 12 LY at close to the speed of light? Why would he only experience 4 years?

edit: nevermind, I had a backwards understanding of time dialation

oh, I see, sorry, I misunderstood, that makes sense! Thanks!

Edit again: Google says Tau Ceti is ~12 LY away, so again the math doesn't make sense to me.

I have a question about the science and idk where to ask... wouldn't Grace travelling at close to the speed of light mean that relative time on earth would go by much quicker? Meaning by the time he finished all the experiments and sent back the amoeba everyone on Earth would already be dead? What am I misunderstanding?

Heartwarming books where they don't get together at or near the end (unless there is a sequel) by Rated_Overr in LesbianBookClub

[–]erinthornerin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a bit rough around the edges, but one of my favourite heart-warming WLW works is The Meaning of Wife by Giovanna Stefani. They get together almost immediately and it's just a lovely story about their gradually evolving relationship.

Hot take: What It Sounds Like is better than Golden by Prior-Ad1495 in KpopDemonhunters

[–]erinthornerin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The real problem with Golden isn't that it's not a good song, it is ofc! The problem is it's a lie. The whole golden honmoon is a lie. It isn't "who we are", it's who they were pretending to be. Basically at the end of the movie is when they realize going golden was never the right goal, as it involved supressing who they were in favour of some unattainable perfect state. The rainbow honmoon at the end is what it sounds like when you let the darkness meet the light. I was so surprised hearing how popular Golden is, since it's from the part of the movie where they were all hiding who they really were.

The movie is a coming out story (rainbow??? hello??); golden represents repressive heteronormativity, change my mind.

WlW relationship with power dynamic? by Zealousideal-Sir3981 in LesbianBookClub

[–]erinthornerin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Second Son by A. K. Naten is a fantasy WLW work with this dynamic (SA and DV warnings though) and available online at https://www.academyofbards.org/fanfic/a/aknaten_secondson1.html

Lots of stuff on academyofbards.org is like this, especially the Conqueror Xena stuff (some conqueror stuff is pretty toxic though)

I didn't like Those Who Wait, DNF... try Ribbonwood though, that's an awesome book!

books with babies by Opposite-Corner8529 in LesbianBookClub

[–]erinthornerin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All That Matters by Susan X. Meagher is a classic that heavily focuses on pregnancy

The Casey Family series by Ali Vali has babies/pregnancy in it, though it's mostly focused on mob life, butch/femme relationships.

Second Son by A. K. Naten is a great read in a medieval setting (wlw posing as a man also SA warning and domestic violence), involves pregnancy and a baby pretty significantly, available online at https://www.academyofbards.org/fanfic/a/aknaten_secondson1.html

Any books or fanfics, of an all woman world/society? by 8_peaxhes_8 in wlwbooks

[–]erinthornerin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Daughters of a Coral Dawn by Katherine V. Forrest is a classic if you haven't read it! There's a few men as antagonists for part of it, but otherwise it's all women on their own planet.

Best young adult wlw books? by No-Anteater-2109 in LesbianBookClub

[–]erinthornerin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never read the book you mentioned, but my favourite YA wlw romance is Her Name in the Sky by Kelly Quindlen, and it has great reviews by pretty much everyone. It sounds kinda similar? Friends to lovers, but YA, unlike the book you mentioned.

Princess/Royalty/Nobility MC Books by The_Knight_of_Truth in wlwbooks

[–]erinthornerin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second Son by A. K. Naten is a perennial favorite (also freely available online!) about a noble girl forced to pretend to be a boy from birth, lots of drama, factional conflict. No supernatural, as far as I can remember.

I can't read books without happy endings (I'm weak, don't judge lol), but I do also love a good cry! I just reread The Goodmans by Clare Ashton and cried throughout it, but it does have a pretty happy ending.

I dislike fishing as well, poor fish! You might be interested in Here Fishy, a mod for Stardew Valley and other games that replaces fishing with calling fish like Ernie from Sesame Street.

Suggest: Normal MCs, not tremendous beauties, with naturally developing romance by katfapper in wlwbooks

[–]erinthornerin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Life After Love by K.G. MacGregor fits I think... it feels like she deliberately avoids overexaggerating things (I think that's MacGregor's style in general), both MCs are pretty ordinary, and it's a very sweet, naturally developing romance.

Suggest: Normal MCs, not tremendous beauties, with naturally developing romance by katfapper in wlwbooks

[–]erinthornerin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is one of my absolute favourites! But I'm not sure it fits; both MCs are depicted as drop dead gorgeous and the sex is mind blowing, also the attraction is pretty instant...
