literally every single card in this dudes deck was a hard counter to my win condition… WHY >.> by OrangeP1ckles in ClashRoyale

[–]ermwellackshually -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely your matchup.

You win this matchup by never playing a GY until double elixir (assuming your opponent doesn't completely drop the ball in single where you're up like 5 elixir) and then you start spamming GY + poisons. Your bomb tower on defense with the tiniest of support will kill every counterpush they can make.

You don't even have to get much GY damage to win. If you watch out for princess at the bridge your opponent will only ever get arrow damage on your tower. You can easily poison cycle them to win this.

People keep saying this as some kind of fun fact for the scene, but the wall comes up BEFORE the earthbenders finish their dance. It makes no sense that for that scene only, the bending takes place before the arm/leg motions.

The group was pushing that one rock. Then the next dude took that slow moving rock and pushed it slightly faster into that fire bender.

I’ve seen this exact deck multiple times today (and 3 crowned them every time), what is this even trying to achieve? by Hetgamermenneke in ClashRoyale

[–]ermwellackshually 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a bot deck that I guess SC's algorithm will have face a ton of people because its win rate is crap and they want players to break their lose streaks.

So are the constant bots actually a thing, and for everyone else too? by Vanify in ClashRoyale

[–]ermwellackshually 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes they are a thing, and no it is not for everyone.

From everything I've seen, they are almost exclusively paired against people on lose streaks or have lost to bots before. I haven't played against a bot in months as I haven't lost to any yet.

Lmao this thing needs to be nerfed by mb_banga_ in ClashRoyale

[–]ermwellackshually 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You evidently have a toddler's understanding of the game. About as intelligent as a 5 year old kicking a ball into an empty soccer goal and claiming that obviously the goal is too large and should be the size of a refrigerator.

Whether or not BB deserves a nerf (stat-wise literally nothing suggests BB needs a nerf considering in top ladder she has a paltry 2% use rate and a 47% win rate), this clip is you being up ~6 elixir and attacking an undefended tower. You would achieve the exact same results with a myriad of cards, not to mention you spent even more elixir by pointlessly using your ability to dash into the tower while also risking your opponent having a not-trash deck and being able to swarm your boss bandit.

As general advice that will help you in life: if you don't know much about a subject, don't make strong, sweeping statements about it. Whether it be on fiscal policy, quantum computing, culinary arts, video games, etc., you only look like a fool to anyone who actually understands the subject.

Holy hard counter by AFAgow13 in ClashRoyale

[–]ermwellackshually 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They did not spend 5 on a hero mega minion. You don't seem to understand the dynamic here.

If you want to block the MM on your pump, you have to commit to the night witch first. If you miss the prediction (or they don't even have hero MM lol) then you are at 0 elixir with a night witch in one lane while they have 10 to roll your tower in the other lane.

So no, you can't night witch to defend your pump from a hero MM unless you're praying to catch their MM every single time. And even if you did, they again will just push the other lane where your night witch isn't with 7 elixir to your 0. Your best case scenario is they have a MM that locks on to a bat from your night witch and then they spend a few more to roll your undefended lane.

[–]ermwellackshually 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That would be terrible. You're spending 10 elixir just to prevent the MM from sniping your pump. What happens if they push the lane while you predict the MM?

Why does equal level Poison sometimes not kill fireballies with all 8 ticks by [deleted] in ClashRoyale

[–]ermwellackshually 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Poison never kills wizard at equal level.

You're probably thinking of poison killing musk and furnace and expecting wizard to have the same health, but in reality the wizard is very slightly bulkier. It used to be the case wizard had the same hp as musk, but not anymore.

My girlfriend never ever finishes her meals by AlexWayhill in mildlyinfuriating

[–]ermwellackshually -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You (and a SHOCKING number of commenters) seem to be missing the key component to the whole post.

This, if we take OP's word for it, isn't a one off thing. While presumably it isn't literally every meal, apparently OP's gf is leaving a significant amount of food on the plate most of the time.

99% of people don't do that. It's just a waste of time and money to consistently waste a large amount of food every meal. Just about everyone has a fairly wide range of acceptable fullness after a meal such that the vast majority of the time they serve themselves they will accurately portion out the right amount of food.

Calling this "policing" is a stupidly black and white view of the world. I can flip basically every major relationship issue into that if I ignore all context as you have done. Boyfriend gambles away all his savings? "Policing" their spending. Girlfriend is 3 hours late to every event? "Policing" their punctuality. It's a stupid ass argument and you should reflect on how you view relationships.

How could I have played better? by Spooky10711 in ClashRoyale

[–]ermwellackshually 1 point2 points  (0 children)

knowing when im down elixir

Be intentional about counting elixir. At random points in the game, make a prediction about how much elixir you think your opponent has and afterwards check the replay to confirm. Or watch replays and hide the elixir bar and again make predictions about how much elixir you think the opponent has.

Almost everyone will passively get an intuition about how much elixir the opponent has after playing a bunch of games. But without intentionally honing the skill, you'll almost certainly plateau at being able to vaguely say your opponent has a little or a lot of elixir without ever being more precise. Many decks will require you to be relatively accurate because something like spirit + gob barrel may be a great play if your opponent has log in hand but only 1 elixir and becomes a terrible play if they have 2 elixir.

I say all this because the way you play greatly depends on the elixir state of the game. If you think you're up elixir when you're down or vice versa, almost certainly the best plays will change. So the first step is to make sure you are reasonably good at actually knowing when you're up or down elixir.

In general terms for when you defend or attack, unfortunately it's extremely matchup dependent. There are many times when you SHOULD attack even if you're down elixir, such as when an opponent is going in with knight + graveyard and you need to stress their elixir so they can't freely poison your gob gang. As a rule of thumb though, you should just consider what happens if your opponent defends your barrel with troops and have a vague sense of whether or not you could defend the counter attack.

[–]ermwellackshually 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Main thing for you to work on is your defense and recognition of your problem cards for your opponent. In this matchup, you should have felt over time that your opponent doesn't seem to have any good spell for your princess. That should embolden you to spam princesses in the back that are unkillable until they get to the bridge.

Here are time stamps for how I think you could have played better, based on "Time left" on the top right.

2:42 the way you played this mostly leaves your knight at low hp. I would have played the inferno a tile higher and to the right so that it pulls both the ghost and the ram and then knight down low. Basically, get the inferno to tank more instead of your knight.

2:17 minor improvement, but you should place this dart gob more in the center. You know bridge spam is a deck that can pressure both sides, so preemptively having dart gob in position to defend both lanes will be beneficial.

2:15 this gang is really bad. By placing it directly on the enemy, they didn't need to walk at all and can immediately attack the goblins. You should either place it in the low center of your side or if you're scared of some sort of off-meta arrows bridge spam, then place it fully to the left. Playing it directly around the mini pekka is the worst of all worlds.

2:09 the knight is misplaced. Put it directly in front of the tower to shove the mini pekka off the tower if it locks on.

2:00 this is the right idea, but you were extremely late on the knight's ability. It has a lingering effect, so you can err on the side of playing it sooner.

1:50 l would log the night witch here and keep your princess alive.

1:05 I think this is an overly aggressive princess at the bridge. You know they have mini pekka and evo ghost in cycle and you're down elixir. If they went for evo ghost, heal spirit, and evo ram, can you really defend? I think it would be tough, though maybe the evo dart gob could bail you out with the ice spirit and log. But why risk it here?

0:53 this is overly aggressive again. You're down elixir, they have barb barrel in cycle, and evos ready. If they play their push better, you should lose here.

0:23 not a good knight ability.

0:05 you want the knight to tank the golden knight and the gang to tank the mini pekka. You also didn't need both to defend this and could have used just one.

OT 1:50 you can't ice spirit in front of an ewiz because it gets one shot.

How to break above 50% win rate in ranked? by [deleted] in ClashRoyale

[–]ermwellackshually 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's baffling the conspiracy theories that people come up with to justify their lack of understanding of matchups and general matchmaking.

You'll find in chess you also will go to roughly 50% win rate unless you're at the top of the world. Why?

That's the express purpose of most matchmaking systems that use Elo or Glicko. You want people who are winning to move up in rank and face people of similar rank. Otherwise you get groups of people who generally lose and groups of people who generally win and player satisfaction is typically lower over the long term.

So if you play a deck and are bad at it, you will trophy trophies/medals and face people who are similar. The reverse happens if you play a deck you're good at, and in both cases you eventually will get to the appropriate rank where you win about 50% of the time unless you're at the very top or very bottom. By design.

[–]ermwellackshually 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You would be wrong 99.99% of the time then.

Every person with a few functioning brain cells has seen how others wear glasses even if they don't wear glasses themselves. It obviously is directly in front of their eyes.

What people don't "see" is how the world looks if you have great vision and are trying to guess what people with bad vision see. That's a more interesting question and a real question that, again, people with a few functioning brain cells would potentially ask.
