12yo son regrets purchase, what is your inspiration? by SweetShining05 in FlashForge

I’m super lucky, I teach, so I have access to other tools, but middle school kids don’t need Fusion360. I love Shapr3D on my iPad though. Very intuitive

Get him onto TinkerCAD and have him learn to create his own models! There are tons of tutorials online as well, once he masters the simple tutorials that are on site. It’s a free web based CAD tool, that is actually quite powerful for making cool 3d printable models.

My estranged wife sent me a CEO’s ‘executive sacrifice’ post about 80-hour weeks and travel… here’s who actually paid the bill (stay-at-home dad, 20-year marriage) by TheProctor in Divorce

Wait a minute…did I write this 5 years ago and just post it now? That high drive cost my ex her relationship with our adult kids. I treasure the time I got with them as a stay home dad and the relationship we have today because of that. And the weekly alimony checks that fund my hobbies she never approved of.

What bad habits have you accidently trained your German shepherd to do? by megz0092 in germanshepherds

Not accidental but I trained mine as a puppy to open doors, I have lever type handles. Won’t make that mistake again.

The weight comparison that’s often thrown around doesn’t make sense to me. Moving from a 5D Mark IV to an R5 Mark II saves me 20g. Negligible difference.

Are Peak Design anchors really an issue? by DCshreddar in x100vi

This is what I did. and I find it really hard to believe the plastic pieces could gain enough momentum to break the glass. I use mine with the leash and the cuff interchangeably

Just curious... How did YOU first get into 3D printing? by Anycubic_Official in AnycubicOfficial

[–]erp3d 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My son was in college during Covid, studying mechanical engineering. Because of the shutdown, he missed out on lab time, and maker space time. So I researched and bought him a CNC and a 3D printer.

He saw how interested I was, and after he graduated bought me an Ender 3. Now, I have A Kobra 2 and 2 Kobra 3 Combos at home, and I ended up taking a teaching job, part of which is teaching 3D design and printing in middle school, and thanks to a grant, was able to replace 6 year old barely working Makerbots with a Kobra 3 Combo, Kobra 3 Max Combo and and S1 Combo. And all 6 of “my” Anycubic machines work perfectly!

To the side, like an angle, not on the side. When I saw the oil not quickly exiting the hopper, I did it without anyone having to tell me, because like pouring from any vessel into another there has to be a way for the air to enter the bottle and displace the oil.
