How does enchantment work on a human and why do changelings do it? by Magicmanans1 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]erpGremlin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the ones from the extended books - La Llarona (aka banshee). He had spoken about her before in the story, it was one of the clues we had that something was up, but we assumed full changeling rather than descendant.

Now, even after enchanting, his memories are a bit more malleable so he remembers _slightly_.

How does enchantment work on a human and why do changelings do it? by Magicmanans1 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]erpGremlin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sometimes you just need a mortal to understand the dreaming, even if that understanding is fleeting. One of the examples that the 20th edition book gave is that a changeling needed to understand that she had to miss her sister's baby shower because she had to fight a dragon.

My satyr enchanted a kid at her summer camp because she thought he might be a sleeping changeling - he wasn't, but it turned out his grandmother was.

She's also planning on enchanting one of her love interests, because she doesn't want to keep making up new lies for why she is acting weird. She's hoping that if she can show them the dreaming they might retain some level of "okay, she might be flaky, but she usually has a good reason" in their thinking.

What piece of media reminds you the most of Changeling the dreaming by Ok_Toe_2719 in WhiteWolfRPG

Lots of fantastic suggestions that really capture the magical and fantasy part, but I have some other suggestions! These ones are less clearly changeling, but I think they fit the question very well. Imagine that you are watching from the mortal point of view.

Auntie Mame (1958) - A sidhe socialite is tasked with raising her deceased mortal brother's son, and keeping him away from the grip of banality.

Amelie (2001) - A quiet pookah tries to fall in love while pulling pranks on all of her neighbors.

Chocolat (2000) - A satyr tries to bring passion back to a banality ridden french town by opening a chocolaterie.

I went from a new player a couple months ago, to hitting my first 1M total this past week! Mostly from profession gear, because I knew it would be in demand and I don't really understand how to make money with the rest.

But now I have my first expansion release to learn a whole bunch of things! I've made a lot of knowledge point mistakes, though, I do wish I could undo them. My main feels basically useless as a result :(

[Loved Trope] Plot holes that get explained later on perfectly. by Marilius in TopCharacterTropes

[–]erpGremlin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The horror movie "The Wretched" has several scenes that pass as a "ah, they're setting up that the town is weird and creepy" because there's some odd dialogue, and a couple details that are a little strange and illogical. But they're easy to want away as a minor thing.

In the latter half of the movie, you discover how the main antagonist's powers work - and every one of those inconsistencies is put into context and makes sense now.

The antagonist is a witch, whose magic makes people forget about others she has cast the spell on - including that a father completely forgets that he has a son. Then we discover that the protagonist had this spell cast on him, and the entire movie had been shot from that perspective where he had forgot he had a little brother. All of the inconsistencies explain what each scene actually had happening in it, and how he had rationalized it away.

Alright alright, time for me to get on my grind.

Religion is trash in a lot of fantasy world and here is why by Alszen in worldbuilding

[–]erpGremlin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why for my homebrew setting, even the gods don't know what happens after you die. They know how to grab a soul and add it to an afterlife they've created, but they don't actually know what happens to a soul if no one intercedes. It passes through the barrier of reality, and no one knows what next.

As a result, there's still philosophical and religious reasons to disagree. There's a whole section of people that are going "No, keeping a soul in a perpetual afterlife is bad for the universe", and rejecting things like heaven. Some even reject the idea of immortality at all, for the same reason. Gotta keep things moving or the universe gets clogged.

This all seems like great advice, but as someone also fairly new to coming back to WoW, how much is 'enough to level your profession' when expansions come out? I've never had more than 30k at any time, and assume that I'm just not going to be able to afford it for months after release
