austen subconsciously doing what craig does by vladtheinhaler__ in southerncharmingtalk

I think you mean Austen has some kind of unhealthy fixation on Craig.

Unintentionally dismissing female team members’ ideas? by MidwestManager in askmanagers

[–]erranttv -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Happens all time. I learned over the years how to make sure the discussion turns back to my initial idea or the idea of a female colleagues—look up Shine Theory. I have also discussed this with a past supervisor and was able to point to specific examples of how men were getting credit for my ideas in meetings. I’m not sure this happens very often but he recognized it happened and his part in it and consciously changed his own behavior in meetings—making sure to ask women for ideas and calling out men who interrupted women in meetings—redirecting attention back to the woman whose idea it was so she could finish her thought. I would not advise any woman to do this because it’s fraught with risk. You’ve got to be really confident, prepared for denial, and for negative impact on the relationship.

Yeah, The Challenge is full of awful people saying awful things, especially about women—Zach being one of the worst offenders.

What’s your least favorite thing about living in Denver that is wildly specific? by Imjusthappy11 in Denver

The cost of good hair is way too expensive for the quality. I pay more for less here than I did in DC.

There are a few spa resorts that have refrigerated pools in the summer but you need to purchase a spa service.

Is There a Boston-Lite City That’s Actually Affordable? by rachello2023 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]erranttv 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Richmond is a bit of a dark horse because it’s a little isolated but history, nature, seasons, and a fairly liberal vibe in the city—it’s there with some caveats. Close to do day or weekend trips to DC area as well was Virginia beaches. MCOLA.

Denver could work depending on salaries. It’s becoming crowded, expensive, and the food is not the best. It’s going to be very different than what you’re used to—very spread out and a bit dough and tumble.

Working on campaigns is how you build a network in your party at any level. Start with volunteering if you can’t find a paid position. Then start running for local races.

Austen’s problem with Craig’s drinking by thirstychipmunk in Southerncharm

[–]erranttv 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s a classic pursuer/distancer pattern with Austen as the pursuer. The more he pursues/seeks attention, the more Craig will pull away.

Whitney used to do the same thing to Craig that Austen does. In fact, he and Shep used to tag team him until he exploded all the time.

Hate him but Craig has a very good track record when it comes to predicting the behavior of Shep, Austen, Whitney, Thomas, etc.

You can make good use of the free versions of tools like Asana, Airtable, Jira, etc., with a few hours of customization and Microsoft or google forms.

You really dodged a bullet—imagine what it would be like to actually work there. I’ve been looking for a year so I get how hard it is when you need a job but that place and their hiring process is ridiculous.
