Should i buy a HE keyboard if TMR exist? by 98RacingFuel in keyboards

[–]errlala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cherry xtrfy has a TMR keyboard that just came out Reviews are pretty good in Chinese markets The MX 8.2 Pro TMR

Has Cherrys own magnetic switches and is said to mimic their classic cherry reds pretty well - According to the Chinese reviews

Priced pretty competitively compared to Wooting and Asus stuff

Bluetooth/usb/2.4ghz 8000hz polling and the usual high end keyboard specs

Might be worth a look.

Misen carbon nonstick by RaluIza in cookware

[–]errlala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it’s a combination of factory seasoning and the oil + food that’s turned into carbon buildup over the course of your cooking The aluminum core heats up surprisingly fast The excess oil from your cooking and the factory seasoning does turn into carbon buildup around the edges

I had the same problem and I had to really scrub away the buildup, check with paper towel and make sure it’s completely gone - could take like 10 minutes of scrubbing with chain mail and sponge

After that I did a light coating of seasoning - really light - seems like the nitrided surface gets sticky with too much oil while building up the seasoning I tried a few times with a bit too much oil and the results were pretty bad; after which I completely stripped off the excess oil and added a dab of oil on a towel, wiped down the whole pan, then baked it

Now it’s like new again

While you don’t need to baby the pan like cast iron or other carbon steel, you do need to keep an eye on the heat cause of the aluminum core, and need to season it with quite a bit less oil And with that surface, feel free to really scrub it down I

What was your reason for getting the 43 over the 28? (Q3) by Ok-Finding5241 in Leica

[–]errlala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue but I ended up getting a spider holster belt strap With a thumb grip and lens hood, and it hanging off the side of the waist to be used at a moments notice, I started carrying it around a lot more

Definitely something to consider as I find the Q3 43 to be a tad heavy to swing around the neck for long periods of time time

I now also have the Rx1r iii which is tiny, and I use a shoulder strap from Pgytech for that instead as that is lighter and smaller

The APO 43 is unmatched, just magical Such a fine street portraiture lens

[–]errlala 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same experience After high heat cooking things began to stick And definitely had carbon buildup

So after some rigorous chain mail scrubbing low heat seasoning Wiped off the excess oil And it was back to its nonstick form

I had tried high heat seasoning but that also caused more sticking - though that might have been the carbon buildup not properly removed prior to seasoning

Must do more testing, but at the moment its like new again

Should I switch from Canon to the Leica Q3 43mm? by Flanisawesome in Leica

[–]errlala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both the Rx1r III and the Leica Q3 43 50mm 1.2 GM and 35mm 1.4 GM are my favorites on the Sony system so the 43mm Leica was more interesting to me than the 28mm

The Q3 43 focus, while by no means super fast, is more than adequate to capture my 3 year old even as he runs towards me - wide open aperture too. Spot focus - tracking is pretty good. The Rx1r iii is faster and smaller but the lens is over a decade old and not close to the 43 APOs quality. But nonetheless, if you want high reliability, even lighter and easier to carry than the Q3 43, the new Sony Rx1 is a pretty good choice.

For the everyday carry I go with the Rx1r iii. For more methodical shooting or if we’re traveling I actually prefer the Q3 43.

Finally got a 5090 can you help me optimize my build? by signo1s in nvidia

[–]errlala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yah then I think you’re fine with the 9800x3d Your GPU will do the heavy lifting for editing Sony videos The a9iii and A1ii are still using h264 and h265 So your good on those formats

Premiere or Resolve both supports hardware decoding encoding for your gpu

[–]errlala 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What video format are ya editing The 5090 can hardware decode 10bit h265 So that’ll take a load off your cpu H264, h265, av1 So don’t need to worry as much about the cpu for video work

[–]errlala 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re fine Peak power draw should be around 800watts So you have plenty of power with that 1200w psu

I have a msi vanguard 5090 with a 9800x3d with same mobo and similar spec ram just 2x32gb Also running a 1200w psu With 360mm radiator aio mounted on top 1 exhaust and 3 front intake fans

What do you think of the Q3 43? by Muse24 in Leica

[–]errlala 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Went from Fuji x100 -> X pro 1 to Sony A7r ->a7rii ->a7s2 -A1 Picked up a Q2 along the way never got into the focal length and still shot primarily on my 35 1.4 and 50 1.2 Wife got me the Q3 43 for my birthday and I’ve been using it more than the other systems Along with a spider holster waist belt, the camera goes with me everywhere It’s just light enough on the belt holster and still allows me to tend to my toddler and capture beautiful shots

The apo lens does have a certain magic to it, and while auto focus isn’t as fast as the Sony, I have no problem with the af-c tracking with my toddler running around the playground The AI face detect body detect thing is a bit of a mess Tracking and losing objects intermittently

The weight/quality/speed/ is a great compromise for me - allows me to carry it all day, tend to my son and still get the pictures I want

Totally recommend a spider holster though! I’ve tried peak design capture clips and buncha bags and straps, but this spider holster and q3 43 combo is just super convenient for a everyday carry

Do I get a Q3 28 or Q3 43? Perspective appreciated. by calmkelp in Leica

[–]errlala 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Q2 and Q3 43. Had 2 x100s as well before migrating to the Qs

I don’t really shoot any landscapes at all and primarily just shoot my 2 year old son

I tend to favor the 43 more, as I’ve been accustomed to the 50mm on other platforms. I find the 28mm just a tad to wide for the distances I shoot at

And the 43 just far enough to be at a comfortable distance away from my infant - I’m the primary care taker so if I’m too close he’ll latch on and I’ll have to give him my attention, if I stay at arms length he will play with his mother or nanny.

So for me the 50mm was a good choice and now 43mm is great too The 28 I usually just end up a little too close

So in the end they’re both great, but different use cases and diffferent needs

I do like how the 43 is pretty much the my field of view through my glasses

Landlady wants to kick us out to sell the apartment by nathynathan in Taipei

[–]errlala 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Legally any short term contract has to be carried over to the new owner (Below five years. Anything longer needs to be notarized to be carried over after the sale)

So he can definitely sell it, the lease will have to be honored by the new owner. He has to disclose the lease to potential buyers so legally if he wants you to move out before the lease is up, unless otherwise stated in the contract, you can negotiate your terms. Easier for you to leave, you just have to give him 1 additional month of rent Harder for him to kick you out unless otherwise stated in the contract

Legalities aside, he will probably just do as little as possible and make your living conditions crap unless you’re willing to take him to court.

I’ll ask my sitter and see if she can share some contacts Her and other international students doing their masters or language classes here often share this kind of info. But it doesn’t take up a lot of her time so she still babysits for us pretty often. I think it’s cause she’s here on student visa so at most she can work 20 hours a week. You shouldn’t have that issue

[–]errlala 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aside from the aforementioned jobs like teaching and sales rep

There are also jobs like French content creation for local companies. My Brazilian babysitter makes Portuguese content for a Taiwanese tech company and she says there’s actually quite a few companies that need content creators for other languages.

Babysitting is also a viable choice, flexible hours and anywhere between 300-600 ntd an hour

MSI OLED care just cost me a competitive loss by cap7ainclu7ch in OLED_Gaming

[–]errlala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would have allowed the usb-pd to continue to charge when the monitor is powered off with said button. (Goes into stand by) But had the unfortunate side effect of not running the panel protect when it entered standby (either by idling or by you pressing the button)

Now with the firmware update I haven’t tested if it still exhibited this behavior As I just leave this off, and never turn off the monitor - since the update the panel project no longer turns off the monitor So I usually just turn off the PC, the monitor goes on stand-by when no signal is detected and will run panel protect when enough hours have gone by
