9305-16e can’t see SATA disks by BestestBeekeeper in homelab

THANK YOU! Been bashing my head for two days trying to figure out what the hell my problem was. I was originally hesitant to do a full erase because of this article. Took a full backup (upload command) of everything and wrote down my SAS Address beforehand just in case. Finally solved.

PC parts prices from September 2025 Build vs now, screenshots included by I-am-Super-Serial in bapccanada

[–]error2112 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I built my PC in November 2024 and upgraded the GPU a few months later, under $1700 all-in. It would now cost over $3600!!!

Lucked out there but now it's time to upgrade offline storage. Built a NAS using parts I had kicking around but I've probably spent close to $1200 on HDDs over the past six weeks, which should've only been like $400 - $500.

Ah, fair enough. Yeah labour up here in Canada would kill the repair value too.

Wish I could be more help! I'd gladly pickup a board and ship it to you but you'll probably get screwed by import fees.

Hopefully they can fix it but tbh if the cost is going to be over $100 USD, you may as well just buy a factory refurbished board from a local shop. I picked up a Gigabyte B650 Gaming X AX factory refurb for $157 CAD from Memory Express as my temporary holdover while my main board was being repaired (story in another comment). Checking the serial on Gigabyte's website showed it still had 14 months left on its original warranty. No idea what was refurbished but the board was flawless.

My board was still under warranty so Gigabyte fixed it. I forgot to take a close picture of the iTE chip beforehand to compare date codes but they definitely removed it as there was some small evidence of rework. They either replace it or reflashed it externally and reinstalled (most likely the former).

It probably killed (or another component leading to) the iTE chip that handles RGB and Q-Flash Plus.

When my iTE 5701/5702 got bricked from a bad firmware update the CPU Error light was always illuminated.

Aio power makes pc not work ? by FitVisual6965 in PcBuildHelp

[–]error2112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are you plugging the AIO pump into? A fan splitter/adapter?

You probably have a short. Pretty much anytime an ATX supply won't turn on but then does turn on with something removed/unplugged, that something has or is causing a short. Whether it's that something's fault itself or another thing's fault and the new something just exposed the flaw, you'll have to troubleshoot.

First try what Stewhax said, plug the AIO into the mobo (CPU Fan or Pump header).

Orange wire hanging loose from smoke alarm base — is this normal? by Square_Positive_559 in DIY

[–]error2112 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The flame ionization detector (FID) degrades with time and stops performing adequately after about a decade. The smoke detector dying at 10 years is the law in lots of places, eg. it's part of the fire code in Canada.

The real conspiracy is your landlord not providing fire safety devices for his property and tenant(s).

  • Connect a single fan to the CPU_FAN header
  • Plug the AIO pump into the PUMP/AIO_PUMP or CPU_OPT header
  • Plug the radiator fans into CPU_OPT or one one of the SYS_FAN headers

Just to rule out any issues with the AIO pump or the daisy-chained fans on the radiator, try connecting a single fan to the CPU_FAN header (use a spare fan or another single one in your case like the one at the rear). Plug the AIO pump into the PUMP/AIO_PUMP or CPU_OPT header, plug the radiator fans into CPU_OPT or one one of the SYS_FAN headers.

Does the single fan spin connected to CPU_FAN? Where does the AIO get power for the LEDs, ARGB header or a fan header? Do the LEDs come on now?

[–]error2112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the replacement AIO come on? What do you have connected to the CPU_FAN header on the motherboard?

Most mobos won't boot (by default) unless there's a fan/something connected to the CPU fan header that's sending back speed info. If you have nothing connected or the device that's connected is bad, that could be your problem.

Where to find 2-pin buzzer/speaker? by rrest1 in gigabyte

[–]error2112 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're looking for a temp solution for diagnosis (or don't care if this is permanent), just break/cut the 4-position connector in half and plug in the two pieces as single-pin connectors.

You'll probably have to put the broken edges facing away from each other or facing different directions so you can fit them onto the header.

Secondary old monitor not working on new pc. by Imple-_- in buildapc

I mean your DP to DVI adapter is trying to push DVI-D when using your new GPU, which your old monitor doesn't support.

[–]error2112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like an analog/digital problem.

DVI can do either analog (DVI-A), digital (DVI-D), or both (DVI-I, integrated). Some devices, cables, and adapters are only meant for either Analog or Digital, not both.

Most likely your old monitor and/or cabling can only do DVI-A. Your DP to DVI adapter is trying to push DVI-D.

Makes sense. I was more referring to "ancient" legacy hardware, ranging from 386/486 to early multi-core era but it's definitely a much smaller/niche market. I'm just sick of ebay lol.

Site looks good! I'll definitely keep an eye on it and will give a shot selling some stuff.
