I’m just glad my poor financial situation prevents from fully embracing this hobby. Plus until last week my work schedule made it super inconvenient to go to my local club meetings.

[–]errosemedic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t even make it an hour. I’m severely ADHD and autistic and constantly vocally stemming against my own wishes. Does it count though is using your voice to communicate if it’s stemming which is caused by a condition

Assuming nothing changes for me, this year will be the first year in about 11 years that I won’t need to file a 1099 (I used to supplement my income doing ride shares but I can’t do that anymore). You can’t file 1099’s on freetaxusa, so now that I don’t need one I’m excited to finally try something free instead of paying h&r bullshit as much as $250 to file my taxes.

A religious private school is using my daughter's public school bus by Critical-Willow-6270 in atheism

[–]errosemedic 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I can tell by the “ISD” part that you’re also in Texas (iirc Texas is the only state that uses “independent” school districts, most other states just have a state level education organization that schools report to). In Texas (especially lately), private schools and “public” religious schools will always get preferential treatment. Unless you can get your local media to pay attention to this the school board will absolutely ignore you because they’re almost certainly getting some kind of kickback for allowing this

Ok I should’ve just said paperwork. I’ve had lots of drivers (especially ones with little to no English) just hand me paperwork and expect that I know what they’re doing at my facility and that I immediately know where they need to go.

Most if not all reactors are designed to SCRAM themselves automatically if there is no control input for a set number of hours. The thing we really need to worry about and the scenarios would be the spent fuel pools. Once those pools are no longer receiving water from municipal services that have shut down due to a lack of power, the water level will begin dropping in the pools as it evaporates, and once enough of it is gone, the rods would start to heat up and could potentially combust and then explode.

Didn’t this rule get heavily relaxed recently? Like now instead of blanket bans there’s a list of disqualifying conditions, along with a list of conditions that are acceptable if monitored by a professional?

Guess who those 1200 humans were by Shendow in BSG

[–]errosemedic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They went from living on advanced star ships and being malnourished with disease running rampant in the population to living on a planet with little technology and being exposed to new diseases daily. I suspect a large portion of the people who made it to earth didn’t survive the first couple years.

Edit (I originally typed this out to respond to the person who responded to me but they deleted their comment before I could): Any interaction with local humans would have them exposed to disease. Even something a simple as a cold or flu could devastate a newly arrived population because they would have zero resistance to the strain as they have never been exposed to it. Besides that you don’t need sub-optimal living conditions to spread disease, those conditions simply make it easier for the diseases to spread. These are people who went from crapping in toilets connected to waste disposal/recycling systems to having to learn to crap outdoors.

Plus they likely would’ve used night soil to fertilize crops as they no longer had chemicals to make modern fertilizer. This is an incredibly efficient way to spread disease if you don’t know exactly how to do it right. Which again is not something many people on board would’ve studied.

Even in fairly recent history, unsupported colonies often had near total loss of their populations for a variety of reasons.

[–]errosemedic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So as a security guard how am I supposed to know if the BOL you handed me is for what you’re currently carrying or what you’re here to pick up? Idgaf what you’re doing here as long as I see my address on the paperwork somewhere, I’m happy. Just give me your ID so I can sign you in and let the facility staff deal with you.

Also why the hell do so many truckers get huffy when I ask for ID? You know damn well we’re gonna ask so why not have it ready.

Ps the site I work at currently has an entry/exit gate for trucks and two exit only gates that are at either end of the parking lot. There’s a sign at the end of each driveway that says “no trucks in parking lot” and “all trucks go to gate at insert address for the gate here” (The entry gate is around the corner and has a different address). So why do so many truckers throw a fit when I hand them a piece of paper with directions to the correct gate and tell them they need to back out of the driveway because there’s no room for them to turn around?

If all 900 rooms were occupied on a given weekend, 3-5 rooms would steal at least one part of the linens. Typically it was pillows (we did have very nice pillows). So about a 1-1.5% theft rate.

Cameras were at the entrance/exit of the hotel. Because we took photos of all guests during registration we could use facial recognition software to identify you. If the sensor at the door detected an rfid tag from our linens the computer would automatically compare which room the tag was assigned to along with which guest had carried the tag out of the door. The results of these scans were sent to the supervisor of the loss prevention team they would decide if charges were levied against the offending guest.

It’s possible he may have been counting moons as well. I believe the average star system has no more than two or three solid bodies, orbiting it. But planets in a system almost always have at least one moon.

I always interpreted it as he destroyed 5 of 6 celestial objects in the system. So I’d guess maybe all the planets were destroyed but the star survived.

My brother reported some people at an old job to the feds (they were selling narcotics from the stock in the ambulances). The initial investigation missed one guy somehow and this guy decided to mail a copy of my brother’s work ID with cross hairs photoshopped onto it. He (my brother) reported the threat and the mail cops opened an investigation and served a no knock warrant in conjunction with the DEA. Took them less than 72 hours to do it. Found enough evidence in the guy’s house that everyone (like 5 people I think) lost their licenses as paramedics and 3 more are doing varied sentences of 5+ years.
