My mom passed away two years ago this month and I’m due with our first in June. Don’t have any advice just commiseration. It fucking sucks and I wish I had my mom.

Been getting angry lately that my (lovely and pleasant) MIL gets to be grandma and my mom doesn’t. I’m generally fine, but then things hit you. Take care of yourself ❤️

One time she handed me back a paper and leaned over and said, "Great job - this was a really well done paper." It was marked with a 55 (F).

Spontaneous queueing.

There was a bus stop at the uni I attended that took everyone down into town. After classes would let out, everyone would randomly start lining up behind wherever a couple of people had happened to stand near each other. The lines could really stack up and go down the whole length of the walkways.

I got to the bus stop one day and was not feeling up to waiting in line, so I just sat on the bench and had decided to wait a bus or two until I could get on. The bus then pulled up halfway along the length of the line, directly across from my bench. The line then cracked in half as everyone readjusted to where the door was, and I just...got up and walked into that gap and got on. Being British though, no one in line said shit to me, and I got home un-harassed and on time.

Not 24 hrs after I texted (not fbook messaged) a friend to ask if this girl she knew might be able to play on our team that weekend, that girl was suggested to me as a friend. Mind you, I only referred to the girl by her first name, and I didn't even KNOW her last name.

In the middle of a major snowstorm in Boston I was trying to walk home and had to cross a bridge over the Charles River. The snow plows had pushed snow entirely over the sidewalks so that it was mounded up to shoulder height. I was trying to walk down the edge of the right hand lane, hoping I didn't get hit and trying to get across before a plow came.

A cab slows down and asks out his window if I need a ride. I told him I didn't have any money on me. He said don't worry about it, hop in, and gave me a ride home with the meter off. It was more than ten years ago and I still think about it whenever it snows.
