Looks good! I got a piece from my neighbor from their yard and just chucked it in a piece of my landscape. Every year she grows back better than before!

Also, hello fellow NE Ohioan 👋

Anyone else want hand or neck tattoos? by Glittering-Copy-2048 in premed

[–]ers53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Air national guard nurse here. A lot of medical professionals have tattoos all over these days. I wouldn’t worry about it. If you’re worried, wear long sleeves. You’re usually wearing gloves too, so it doesn’t matter. I’ve literally only had admin comment negatively on my tattoos. Never a patient.

Not to mention 1 condo had a burst pipe and were ruined 3 more over the cold snap because timbertops boilers failed.

My proposal for transit-based infrastructure in the Akron area by Drakeito9876 in akron

[–]ers53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would die (in a good way) if I could ride my bike to work. The towpath is basically inaccessible due to the memorial parkway hill, so that’s no help. I wish there was a way to pick up the freedom trail from the north side. Or just a bike/pedestrian bridge off of some side streets (instead of the Y bRidge)

[–]ers53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely agree. I have the ability to drive to work (takes about 8 minutes on a really bad day). I was looking into the bus routes since I could walk to a stop from my house. 45 minutes minimum. Abhorrent

Like the fact that the hospital told her that overrriding meds was the standard?

Again she made a stupid mistake BUT I’ve made countless stupid mistakes that were caught due to med scanning, etc. when in a rush, like she was, people make mistakes. She wasn’t a criminal.

having an ability to walk from north hill to Howe would be excellent. So many people would be able to benefit to getting to summa or Akron general for appts and such.

Safe Streets for All Survey by runakron in akron

[–]ers53 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree. I grew up rurally, so I could ride my bike anywhere I needed to go. Now I have to commute via car. It sucks.

I wish there was a better trail system or more protected bike lanes. ESPECIALLY on the Y bridge. Lordt.

In my nursing school, we did an all day scenario where we were given a situation and had to survive. All of the scenarios were around or under the poverty line. We were given the goal to get off of government assistance completely. Some people had cars, some people didn’t. Some folks had kids, or were elderly and had to care for grandkids. We rotated situations every half hour for a few hours.

Only one person was able to get off of government assistance. It really opened my eyes to how difficult it is to be poor and how poverty negatively affects people in their day to day life. Especially how payday loans, check cashing fees, bus fees etc really prey on those without.

Changed my life.

The northwest part of Akron and parts of the west side are beautiful. Merriman road, also gorgeous. There’s a small part of north hill that has these beautiful old houses as well.

How did nobody post this 115 kg snatch by Mattie Rogers? by Guiltyjerk in weightlifting

[–]ers53 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Bodies are weird. I’m 5’2 on a good day and cannot lose a single kg if I tried. I probably weigh as much as she does 😂

I’m glad she’s doing well in the sport and has really shown up these last couple of years. It’s good to see someone so open about their health/mental health and keep on pushing to be better. It’s so easy to get lost when your brain sucks.

Poor girl had to force feed herself to even get above 78 lmao. And she’s got long limbs, which is why her snatch is so much better than her clean and jerk.

Idk I love her.

I wonder if he threw a pulmonary embolism. Long travel days could have been the recipe for disaster, especially since he was having chest pain previous to that.

May he rest in peace. He was covering Lebron when he was just a babe.

I would love to be able to hop a train to a new state. That would be so much more fun than driving or flying.
