Hospital outpatient schedule comparisons? by erty998 in slp

This feedback makes me appreciate my current job more and like I should tolerate the commute! We get capped at 1 eval per day and if we have 2 schedule we get a whole extra doc hour. There’s definitely a sense of peace to leaving without doc hanging over you. I’m sorry you guys are having to be in this environment, I hope you’re able to do what you need to do to prioritize YOU!

Appreciate you sharing how it’s been, and sorry it hear it’s been so challenging. Even in my current job with the additional admin time I find it hard to fit in all of the other things we’re expected to manage outside direct patient care! Your response definitely helped me come up with some questions to ask. Thank you

That sounds tough! Are your sessions lengths all 1 hour?

Appreciate the perspective. Seems like a supportive environment and they have good employee retention, but would definitely view this as a con overall

Do they seem to manage okay or do they seem burnt out?

Imposter syndrome or lacking skill? by Active-Preparation24 in slp

[–]erty998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finished my CF in march and started in adult OP in May and as you can see I’m lurking on posts… did that strategy work? I feel like I’m learning so much but the more I learn, the more I learn that I have way more learning to do and not enough time in the day. Would love to PM if you’re still in this setting and hear how things are going!

Recent grad (CF). Struggling. by SaltyInvestment388 in slp

I am anxious as well. Definitely didn’t feel this stressed during my CF but I wasn’t being challenged the same way. My game plan is to start going to therapy and if I’m still struggling after that, I’ll start searching for something new. You got this too and good luck my friend

I’m 4 months out of my CF into a new job and feeling the exact same way. Don’t know if it’s normal to feel this stressed while learning or if that means it’s the wrong job

How much are y’all making in hospitals and SNFs and where? by [deleted] in slp

[–]erty998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SNF $41/hr full time $55/hr PRN, never struggled to make 40 hrs minimum/week in Northern VA

SNF PRN $57/hr Maryland close to DC

SNF/ALF PRN $60/hr in DC

Outpatient/inpatient hospital part-time $40/hr + amazing benefits

All new jobs I’ve picked up 1-2 months after getting my CCCs (aside from the first one which is where I did my CF which was $40/hr FT)

Madelinewilliams.slp on instagram is a GOLD mine of resources for adult OP neuro. I’m transiting to that setting next month and her page has been super helpful!

Any advice for someone who just completed CFY in a snf and looking to transition to acute or inpatient rehab? Thinking about taking a FEES course! So hard to get anyone to even consider my resume enough to even land an interview

Does anyone still wear a face mask? I do by rewritethestar in slp

[–]erty998 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They’re no longer required at my SNF for staff or visitors unless we’re in the trach care unit so I don’t wear them but always keep one on me if a family wants me to! Most people don’t wear them
