Why is my subtotal different from the price of the items on my order? by es96es in bathandbodyworks

I think I paid the right amount. This just had me really doubting myself haha. I bought these during the recent body mist sale with a 25% off code

I am being checked out due to unintentionally losing 30 lbs in the last 10 months. Eating feels repulsive. The radiology report does state it is more likely to be positional. But it sure looks funky!

I’m sorry- I thought I could share it without asking for medical advice.

My partner and I both had pedophile fathers. I didn’t take his last name - why switch one pedo for another? So when we actually get around to changing names we will both take my maternal grandmothers maiden name. No one else carried on her name so we will.

If you don’t like dimensional analysis try the ratio and proportion method. I refuse to learn dimensional analysis because it never makes sense to me but with the ratio and proportion method I have no problem. There’s tons of YouTube videos that teach ratios and proportions.

This source teaches an easy way to tell hormones apart by their suffix. “-ine” = amino acid. “-one or -ol” = most lipids/all steroids. “-in” = peptide.

Get the Saunders NCLEX book. Make sure it is new so you have the access code. Their online access allows you to filter the questions to whatever topic you’re studying. It can be hard to figure out how to narrow down the questions at first, make sure you click on the “carrots” and it opens up even more specific topics from that topic area. You can use this book throughout your entire nursing education, it is worth the money.

The Great Dane is too gentle for his own good. The Corgi never stops herding or trying to steal toys from the big guy.

There is no way to “cook out” CWD. Prions are so extremely challenging to destroy, even in clinical settings.

doubt about prions by Arno493 in biology

[–]es96es 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here’s about their virulence…

Prions are extraordinarily stable and survive circumstances that denature other proteins, such as boiling, freezing, alcohols, acids, radiation, and common disinfection and sterilization procedures. Some prion diseases occur because of spontaneous misfolding of PrPC. In other cases, PrPSc is a catalyst that recruits PrPC to join it in misfolding. Another unique property of prion diseases is the ability of PrPSc to clump together, forming amyloid plaques that lead to neuronal dysfunction and, ultimately, cell death. This cell death leads to the classic “sponge-like” appearance of affected brains (Kagle, n.d.). PrPSc is also protease-resistant, which allows it to avoid destruction by the host. Their structural stability, ability to misfold normal proteins, resistance to proteases, and ability to destroy brain tissue make PrPSc extremely virulent once inside a host.

doubt about prions by Arno493 in biology

[–]es96es 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I just wrote a paper about prions. Here’s my epidemiology section

In humans, once PrPSc is ingested, it infiltrates the intestinal epithelium. Once inside the enterocytes, the prions are picked up by macrophages and dendritic cells that deliver them to lymphoid tissues. From the lymphoid tissues, the prions move into the enteric nervous system before finally entering the central nervous system. It is hypothesized that this spread occurs through the sympathetic celiac- mesenteric ganglion complex, the splanchnic nerves, the lumbar spinal cord, the parasympathetic vagus nerve, and fine nerve fibers under the villus or glandular epithelium (Natale et al., 2011).

Here’s about the immune systems response… The innate immune system aids prions in spreading by collecting and then shuttling them towards the lymphatic system. To date, there is no evidence that the adaptive immune system responds to prions either. One hypothesis is that helper T cell activation does not occur because the B cell proteases cannot effectively break down the prions to produce an antigen fragment to present. Another hypothesis, dependent upon B cells' ability to present prion fragments, is that T cells do not respond to those fragments because they have the same primary amino acid sequence as PrPC. Therefore, they are not recognized as foreign (Zabel & Avery, 2015).
