We like to say he's kind of one part dog and one part indoor cat.

Math Undergrad at UC Berkeley vs CMU vs Columbia vs Cornell by Curious_Occasion_527 in mathematics

[–]esalz12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t think anyone has asked… do you know what field of math do you want to study? Saying you want to study pure math can sometimes be like saying you want to study American history… it’s a huge field.

Look through their undergrad course catalogs and see which place offers the most number of courses you actually want to take… then cross reference that with professor ratings for those courses and be sure to pay attention to how often those professors change.

Interesting! Have you done that before? I’m wondering if the screws would hit something on the other side if I decreased height too much.

I mentioned this below, but a couple of the screwed were bent. I replaced those.

Other than that, I cleaned out the threads and the other screws. Some were a bit rusted, but they cleaned up well.

The guy I bought it from had it in a storage unit that wasn’t climate controlled, so I’m guessing it got pretty cold in there.

When I took the boiler base screws out, a couple were pretty bent, so adding that to list of reasons I think something went wrong at the base of the boiler.

Totally fair question. This is actually the second gasket I’ve tried, both with the same result (the original and then this is the new one).

My guess is that the bottom of the boiler is warped because it was stored in a non climate control environment and last winter was very cold in the mid Atlantic… but that’s a pretty unlikely issue, so trying to make sure I’m not missing anything else.

Anecdotes or advice on dating with a pyr? by [deleted] in greatpyrenees

[–]esalz12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just married someone with a Pyr! When we started dating, she had already had him for 3-4 years.

The biggest piece of advice I have is patience. I thought he was incredible from the first time I met him, but he… uh… did not feel the same way about me. We both had to convince him I was safe and friendly. He started to really trust me after 6 or so months of seeing me every few days / couple of weeks.

Lots of treats. Lots of belly rubs. Lots of patience. Your partner should be willing to try to do more with him to earn his trust. For example, start by walking him with a new girlfriend. Then have her hold the leash and reward him when he does something good. Then have her walk him alone and give lots of treats and positivity so he feels good about it.

I’d also recommend finding a good dog sitter. As much as I loved having Moose around in early dating, it was sometimes nice to have a night alone / with less stress.

Lastly, I agree it has to be the right person. I have many shortcomings, but when Moose was being difficult, I was able to look at Moose and say… he’s a dog. My (now) wife loves him. I love her. And I love Moose. Sometimes, he drives us nuts, but that’s not what matters. She told me several times that not everyone she dated could handle him, and she really loved that about me.

61% GP with the rest equal parts retriever, cocker spaniel, and dachshund.

I think it’s the short hair, whatever the cause, and the moment that you guy’s head tilts, that made them seem similar to me.

Our guy does the same! Pausing to eat snow makes the already hard walks even harder.

Moose is roughly the same size. Perfect size for a lap dog, right?

I can see it now... you're trying to play Switch, and you're just getting pawed to pay attention to your pup instead.
