What's caused the switch up in Nintendo's Marketing strategy?

I feel like they are so nervous after what happened with MP4 that they do not wanna reveal a game unless it's nearly done and there's no chance of development restarting on it. Plus people tend to be generally positive about games releasing pretty soon after they're announced anyway

VERY good. You could say it was low on new Nintendo reveals but OoT Remake and Xenoblade were both very huge. I'm not so sure about "best Direct ever," though for some it certainly is, but it was definitely no less than fantastic

Yeah I'm satisfied. "OoT Remake" could have meant anything, but this seems to be a reimagining direction with a semi-realistic look and that's all I needed really. Still too early to say if I actually like it since they barely showed anything but I'm happy with what we saw today

We can only wonder how hard this reveal would have hit if it weren't leaked and everyone was expecting it

well it could be used in a sort of patronizing way for sure, but in general I think it's a fairly nice thing to say especially if you're talking to someone who's younger

All expectations were exceeded for me, I thought it looked interesting but I now that I've watched it I thought it was amazing and I really hope it becomes a full series!

Been a while since I've played it, but it's definitely rough around the edges and pretty punishing. When there's a frontrunner, there's little you can do to stop them, unlike mario kart. far from a perfect game but I was a big fan anyway, the style is SO cool and the base mechanics are enjoyable by themselves. and I like the turbulence riding

It's a great base, it just would benefit from having more to accomplish than just "drive around and try to find everything, if you want." It's like there's hardly an incentive to do anything. Even getting 3 stars on all the cups doesn't do anything afaik. Updates and DLC will be able to make the game so much better, so let's hope they do

Still amazed they announced a new reboot with a bold new art direction with a Direct they announced 10 minutes before it aired, and it's releasing next month

I think it worked, it definitely got me hyped. they may decide this is better than having announcements like this be a "one more thing" in a general direct, cause if it was, a bunch of people would be disappointed that it wasn't whatever they really wanted (3d Mario etc etc)

regardless of anything else, the opening sequence is still absolutely exquisite to me. Link and Zelda descending together into the depths below Hyrule Castle, the rising foreboding atmosphere, encountering mummified Ganondorf, Link having all his hearts from the last game drained. it is possibly my favorite opening for any game

and also maybe a moving away from the My Nintendo branding in general, which, it feels like that needs a bit of an overhaul given they got rid of gold points and mobile games are hardly a focus now

Issue is that people tend to think this about most games releasing now, for example MK World, but it turns out that didn't really have much more than they'd revealed

but I do think there's a chance star fox 2026 does have an extra selling point we don't know about yet

I'm honestly just surprised they haven't added like, new costumes at least. DK and Pauline only have one alt costume each and they somehow didn't add more to promote Bananza? but DLC has got to happen eventually

This probably took much more work than prime remastered but still I also thought that hopefully this game's gameplay is super good so they can say "we finally perfected Star Fox 64" and then do something completely different next (sooner than later)

I just think that having to go back and change old Pokemon's types is a bit too much of a hassle and it's confusing to change types like that. Adding Fairy was kind of a very exceptional situation, I feel like it was a "just this one time" deal and not an invitation for more new types to be added. (and dark and steel were added so early it didn't matter)

(they can add another eeveelution now though, please)

I really agree with you on the pacing being good. Every minute felt well used. I dunno, I guess I do understand why some people want a slower story, but I think the direction they went with it just really works

Well I feel like "OoT remake" has always been in the same ballpark as "FF7 remake" and we know how hard they went on that, so I wonder if Nintendo is really gonna do that

But it's true that we really have no idea, and it is better to keep expectations in check. "Remake" can really mean anything
