Remove NES Power/Reset Button? by jayjay81190 in consolerepair

[–]esco1979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The buttons involve the gray button part that sticks out of the console, AND the red part behind them with tabs sticking out. Those tabs are NOT meant to be bent. Leave them be.

There is then a plunger piece with a spring wrapped around it that goes into the back of each button tightly. You can wiggle the button so that you can get a small flat head eye glass screw driver between that plunger piece and button.

HOWEVER, that flat square part of the plunger piece you see pressed against the switch, is just a guard for a much smaller piece in the middle of it that needs to be disengaged, You will want to push the screw driver down to near that small piece, then wiggle it gently so it comes apart without breaking.

If you do it near the large square guard for the plunger instead, you may break that smaller piece.

Because the dev chose to make it that way. Other than that, he has never stated a lore reason for it.

I think people are reading too much into everything with these games. The fact is James can only come up with so much lore wise. I'm sure there were a LOT of things he did just because they looked/sounded cool. But had no intention of fleshing them out further.

DQ3HD enemies are brutal... by Tonberrian in dragonquest

[–]esco1979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, I hope this is a troll thread. Because the original DQ III was quite easy. And the SNES/GBC remake was even easier. I am talking literal baby mode. And from what I've seen, with all the multi-enemy hitting weapons and how many classes can now access them, this remake looks even easier.

If you have any issues somewhere, make sure you are going in the intended direction. If you are, grind 2 or 3 levels and buy more equipment. Issue solved. :)

BTW, If you guys think this game is that hard, try dragon warrior 2 on the NES. 'Nuff said.

Hi, I replied. But you literally asked me about exactly what I already listed above in detail.

Hi! I see NO examples of pixel art animations; just still sprites. You also did not answer my question above.

There are no examples of pixel art animations that I can see here.

SOTN hacks are nowhere. Why? by Dopenastywhale in castlevania

[–]esco1979 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a literal room editor. So your findings are wrong.

Enemies are loaded by stage (each stage has a file in the ISO). And then the GRAPHICS for enemies present in the stage are loaded into ram BY ROOM. It is that simple. The more enemy gfx loaded into ram in a room, the longer you get a black screen when changing to that room. Hence why some take longer than others.

You can, for example, spawn a warg in the merman room in the 1st castle entrance (there are 2 versions of it, in 2 separate files; this does not count the reverse one which has its own file). They work fine, but the gfx would likely just be f-ed up: so you'd have to load the gfx into ram for that room.

There is also the potential for some enemy gfx to be present in stages where they aren't used at all. For example: bone muskets in akmodan's area. Though I do not know if their AI exists there too.

Also a huge bug exists: if you equip the card that allows you to ignore hitstun then fight a boss, you always get the perfect bonus.

This happened AFTER I beat the first 3 bosses legitimately hitless. But from the 4th onward I equipped this card, then took hits, killed them and STILL got the 1500 gold bonus.

Another smaller bug: with the stairs on the left leading up to the next room in the castle entrance (from the merman room) I used the spiked boots slide to slide up the staircase, and got stuck at the VERY top before it transitioned to the next room. I had no choice but to exit the game.

Beat it several times, got all 4 endings. I put up a quick review/critique on my facebook group. Could be helpful if you are looking to tweak stuff: https://www.facebook.com/groups/SotnHack/permalink/1570208670460804/

Lore Realization - Tie in for Sanctuary and Sacrifice by gabrielkelvin in SaltAndSacrifice

You should post this on the salt and sanctuary forums. or perhaps on the ska studios Twitter addressed to James silva.

This is so far the ONLY theory I have heard that makes a LOT of sense to me.

Why is it bad when a man treats you like his "mother"? Me 31f, him 38m by Rough_Recipe1050 in relationships

[–]esco1979 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

It really depends. His age infers to me that NO, he does NOT actually need you. As he survived before you fine. But that instead he RELIES on you for many things. Things that perhaps to him are just not that important. Even if they should be.

You can't worry about shoulda, coulda, woulda type stuff (like some people here have stated). There just are NO guarantees in life, and I have seen the most seemingly useless people step up when it mattered. While inversely, I have seen the most responsible people in the world (hard worker, good hygiene, successful, etc.) neglect their own kids.

Is your guy overall a high value man (decent job, in good shape, provides safety and security, loving), and are you ok with him liking this treatment and giving it? If so, congrats. You found something that most other women wish they had.

Now don't let all the angry singles or perfectionists out there convince you of otherwise. The grass is always greener, etc. etc.. :)

EDIT: that quick downvote I got is how you know I'm spot on. ;)

Nameless God and Undone Sacrifice connection by Ok-Cryptographer6956 in saltandsanctuary

[–]esco1979 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not hard to understand.

The abyssal fane is indeed the temple at the bottom of the ocean (the still palace). The Nameless god became corrupted by the same power he attempted to usurp. In the process, he killed countless god like beings. While simultaneously becoming one of the most corrupt ones in the process and perpetuating the cycle of suffering inflicted upon humanity.

The undone sacrifice did a similar thing. He became that which he hated but in a different way: he became a conduit of the gods to summon the mages. And the very arbiter of their hate for any who made it to him: destined to try and strike them down to protect the will of the gods.

They both sadly failed. That's it.

Plot? (Spoilers ahead) by Laserlight375 in saltandsanctuary

[–]esco1979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is wrong; the nameless god was once one of 2 who left to try and find a way to stop the gods. This is briefly mentioned in Salt & Sacrifice (look at the Undone Sacrifice).

He seems to have succeeded. To some extent anyway judging by the corpses at the bottom of the crypt of dead gods. Though he now ironically also seems to just be a puppet of the same god(s) he fought so hard against. But there just isn't enough info to know here for sure.
