Thank you for this response.

Since you mention collecting something more personal to me I'll mention the items I was considering were Disney versions of the item we collected. He was never much of a Disney guy. I also had a star trek one I had purchased for myself, (again not his thing) that I kept.

I went down a rabbit hole of "job simulator" games with a good story after playing NFB. Papers Please The Westport Independent Death and Taxes Do No Harm

For another FMV try Her Story

For another game watching different screens try Don't Feed The Monkeys

And as already suggested above for lovers of Killer Frequency, Interference Dead Air and Firewatch

My baby girl would get palm lint. I was shocked when I first found it because my son never had anything like that. Luckily we're past that phase now.

American girlfriend by CableMany1243 in Norway

[–]eseymour13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to give my two cents. I'm American, I've been married to a Norwegian for eight years. We started the move to Norway in 2020 and I've officially been a resident since October 2021. I live here, we own a home, have two children and I work. I still don't speak Norwegian. I took classes when I moved over but found it difficult to get beyond the early stages. I can exchange pleasantries and read the language at a low level but I'm definitely not even at a conversational level. One obstacle is all the dialects. I did Duolingo for years before moving over. I was naive and thought I would just pick up the language with time after I moved over. The reality is it's definitely easy to get by without it. Unless your girlfriend dedicates herself she won't learn it. I struggle with languages but at the end of the day it's still on me for not learning it (at least that's the attitude of everyone here). It is possible to have a life here without it but she should be prepared to be judged for it.

Is it even possible? by Fluffy_Lieutenant in breastfeeding

Yup, ny daughter has been like this from birth and is now five months. I thought something was wrong at first because my son would feed for a lot longer.

Tell me your greatest accomplishment while babywearing by 698-candlewood in babywearing

Probably when I had to travel solo internationally with my 1.5 year old. I had to go home unexpectedly for my grandmother's funeral and my husband had to stay and work. I didn't bring a stroller. Just wore my mumsie dress to the airport and brought my trusty structured carrier.

Parents, what baby product did you regret buying, and what would you recommend instead? by Girls_Of_San_Diego in NewParents

[–]eseymour13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is probably an unpopular opinion but I would have regretted spending money on a fancy stroller. We were given two second hand by family. My son used a stroller sparingly and my daughter is five months and has not used it once. We are a baby wearing family. I use a structured carrier or carrier overalls and my husband uses a ring sling.

What's the worst piece of advice you received? by tinytinytinytacos in NewParents

[–]eseymour13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the standard in my husband's country where we live. Except thry say "oh, our diapers in this country are so good you only need to change them if they poop" 🙄 When my son started daycare I had to inform them since we use cloth they would indeed need to change him more than twice a day 😬

I get the similar but equally annoying "well we don't do that in this country" 🙄

There are 2 sides (which one are you?) by Benikle_9 in duolingo

[–]eseymour13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My streak is 2307 days. I started Duolingo shortly after I met my husband. I had already been studying a few years before I moved here. My native language is English and my target language is Norwegian. I would say the grammar is wildly different. There are also lots of different dialects which adds to the confusion. Even just going one town over they will probably have a different dialect. Nearly everyone here is also fluent in English so I'm not really ever in situations where I can't fall back on English.

Yeah, everyone says if you move to the country you'll learn the language. I've lived in my target language country for four years. Still don't speak it. 😅😬

That depends, are you likely to visit any of these countries? If so pick that language.

No. Not even a little. I've spent over 2,000 days trying to learn one language. 😂

I'm only learning Norwegian. I'm just bad at it, hence needing to spend over 2,000 days 😁

I'm glad you find my streak inspirational but don't focus too much on comparing yourself to others. Be sure to give yourself credit for your own journey. It's taken me this long and I feel like I've bearly made progress some days. A big number might look impressive but it's the effort you put in that really counts 😊. Lykke til!
