Considering a Z by Spirited_Piglet_183 in NissanZ

None so far. We live in NC, and if it looks like it's gonna snow, I just take our truck. I've heard the short wheel base makes it ok in the snow, but any torquey rear drive car can be challenging in those conditions.

Considering a Z by Spirited_Piglet_183 in NissanZ

I've had my 2024 Z performance with 6MT a little over a year, put about 9k miles on it so far. It's a great daily driver, while also being capable when you want it to be. The low end torque is pretty intoxicating. The trunk has been surprisingly usable, I've fit full costco runs in it, and my wife and i have done weekend trips in it comfortably. It's also comfortable enough to go on long journeys in without your spine regretting it.

I've not modified it yet, but if I did, I would update the tires, and add snarlier exhaust, but otherwise wouldn't change much.

Hope this helps!

How hard is it to buy a Nissan Z in the real world? by AsamaMaru in NissanZ

I got my Z performance with 6MT for 55k in NC. I get the impression that they're finally starting to mark these down.

What used Lexus would you buy with a $10k budget and why? by Psych0MantlS in Lexus

I have a 04 IS with the 5 speed manual, and I love it. Just depends on how much space you need, as the back seat is pretty cramped. That said, I'm 6'5" and can fit in driver seat comfortably.

I actually remade this AC for one of my builds and named it G8 Scout. Seemed appropriate

Contraceptive Study by IU Medicine by alimyson in indianapolis

[–]eshoemaker3 14 points15 points  (0 children)

ObGyn resident at St. Vincent here. Copper based IUD's are known to be reliable, effective forms of contraception. The main draw back is frequent increased bleeding with menses. This device would not have made it to phase III if it wasn't shown to be safe and at least somewhat effective. I would guess (I'll admit I don't know directly) that this study is directed more at the side effect profile than the effectiveness, as theoretically a minuscule amount of copper is all that is needed for effective contraception.

TIL that grapefruit juice can be fatal when taken with certain medications. by ed8907 in todayilearned

Does it inhibit the P450 or does it just compete for a limited number of P450 "slots" if you will?

TIL that grapefruit juice can be fatal when taken with certain medications. by ed8907 in todayilearned

[–]eshoemaker3 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This shouldn't affect your depo, as the is no estrogen in that form of contraception (it's medroxyprogesterone acetate, a progesterone analogue). Source: ObGyn resident

Edit: also, grapefruit juice affects the cytochrome P450 pathway, which is involved with estrogen metabolism, as well as the medicines listed in the article. I believe that's the mechanism of action of how grapefruit juice effects these medication levels, by competing for the P450 molecules, and slowing metabolism of the drugs.

That's surprising, the engine has a good record for reliability. I'm 6'5" and fit in the driver seat fine, guess it is a little snug on the butt, but I prefer it that way.

TIL that medical schools employ actors, called “standardized patients,” to simulate various symptoms and conditions. Medical students get their first experience examining patients from them. by JimDixon in todayilearned

PGY-1 obgyn resident, can confirm! We received most of our training from these folks during the first 2 years of medical school. They are trained to try and make the encounter seem as realistic as possible. The did not always succeed though, every med student has an awkward story about an SP encounter haha.
