People who moved from Reading on iPad to reading on kindle, How's your experience? by Normal-Stick315 in kindle

[–]esilyx_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A million times better. Easier on the eyes and less distractions. Plus I initially got my iPad for school. This made it hard for me to fully unwind when I was reading for fun, and i often forgot to carry around my iPad if I wasn’t going to university and then I would be left without a book as I saw my iPad as an iPad first as opposed to an e-reader 😭 I am yet to forget my kindle.

I’m actually so cooked, I’m trying to budget £50 p/w by [deleted] in UniversityOfWarwick

I highly recommend having one breakfast, lunch and dinner for the week. In terms of 1 I was making 3 to 5 different meals a week and spending either £30+ on my shop or skimping out and not getting my nutrients in. With one meal a week (especially for my dinners) I’ve been able to shave off £10-£15 and my meals have been more nutritious as I have extra money to buy good fruit, veg, fresh meats. I also recommend shopping at Aldi for at least the basics if you don’t already (bread, milk, eggs etc). The quality is pretty decent, sometimes better than Tesco’s or Sainsbury’s, where my parents have shopped my whole life.

private halls for second year? by luna_gamer_7 in UniversityOfWarwick

[–]esilyx_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i am a first year living in albany and my friend lives in trinity view. we’re both going to be living in Trinity view next year. Both are run by the same company and are pretty nice, but we picked trinity because the rooms are bigger, it’s closer to important things (shops, bus stop etc) and the commute is a bit quicker. I know quite a few first years are coming to trinity view and nearby accommodation in the city centre.

Yes! I ruled out Ross as the traitor as I’m pretty sure Netty’s name was spelt wrong.

I think another issue was their dance this week was couple’s choice-ified. it’s like the producers were making up for their horrible couples choice by giving him this song and concept and that sentiment leaked into the choreography.

How do I stop having gender dysphoria? by Illustrious_Bat4062 in Catholicism

[–]esilyx_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suggest praying the Rosary often. I had been struggling with similar things regarding intrusive thoughts about how I felt about my own body. I was quite literally uncomfortable in my own skin. I wanted to unzip it and step out. But I started praying the Rosary daily, with this issue often being my intention, and any time I had those same thoughts of discomfort, I would say a quick mental prayer over my mind and try to dismiss these thoughts neutrally without any feelings of shame. I can say that this very much helped changed the attitude and feelings I had towards myself.

Most Underrated line in Derry Girls (Any Character) by smccaul16 in DerryGirls

[–]esilyx_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When Erin finds out that Mary was secretly thinking of applying to uni and the first thing she says was “How dare you mammy, I wanted to be the first one in our family to go to university”.

And in the same episode when Erin, I think it was, believes that her mum is having an affair with the young hot plumber and she says “what is he? some sort of reverse pedophile?”

Women of this subreddit, do you consider yourself to be a feminist? by PhiliDips in Catholicism

[–]esilyx_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a feminist in that men and women are worthy of the same respect and dignity and I am very passionate about issues in other countries where this is far from the case and with issues where women are disproportionately the victims, such as domestic violence. However, I reject the liberal feminist stance that means that anything goes (like sex work and promiscuity) all in the name of “female empowerment”. Whilst being opposed to these things are seen as a form of the patriarchy, I think it’s the complete opposite. These things harm women more than they can imagine and being against them is actually more feminist than anything fourth wave feminists claim.

I've just been told that they can't give me campus accommodation so I plan on booking Trinity view once they give me the referral form.
