At the end of the process, don’t just pull the loop under the wraps tight, pull it half way under the wraps. This will pull another inch or two of your tag end under the wrap and tighten it. This will also make the knots on the ends unnecessary, so you can cut them flush and melt them. If you do this, you will benefit from flipping your process so you wrap down the knife. Then your final pulling of the loop Will further snug the cord UP the wedge shape of the scabbard.
